    I think they did not expect the Ukraine to fight so hard, and I am guessing they didn't expect their own country to protest....the longer this goes on the more likely it ends in a better situation for Ukraine.

    I agree completely sanctions won’t stop the invasion but it will make Putin pay the price at home.

    It's been less than 24 hours and the Russians are on the verge of securing Kyiv. I think we should pump the breaks on the praise for Ukraine's defense. Russia has showed a lot of restraint.

    I believe it's more surprise that there has been any serious defense at all -- Ukraine is a perfect battlefield for Russia -- entering the cities was to be the most difficult part of the invasion.

    I don't know that I see a way out for Putin. He's staked his domestic reputation on this - he HAS to win Ukraine, whatever the cost, at this point. A murderous dictator can't ever afford to be seen as being "weak" or that's the beginning of the end for them.
