The announcers usually have pronunciation guides and I've always heard them say it like uh-men, so that's what I've been rolling with

It's pronounced Uh-men. If you have trouble remembering, just think of what the pair of Stone and Patrick would be called in comic books.

Just like you say Akeem, Amen. Thrres no silent H. He was born Akeem and changed to Hakeem when he became a Muslim.

When you were a kid at the doctor and they asked you to open your mouth and go ahhhh. Ah-men. Unless I too have got it all wrong?

Did you know his middle name is excellence? No, I’m serious.

    Ameiz XLNC "Amen" Thompson

    https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/twins-amen-ausar-thompson-set-top-10-nba-100249856

Kidding aside, their aim is to live up to their shared middle name of “XLNC” (pronounced excellence), which was bestowed on them to convey a sense of power.

“Just so with every time you’re saying their name, there’s that power behind it,” their dad, Troy, said. “Excellence, greatness — we always use all these power words and so do they, in their own expressions, so they’re always thinking on that high note.”

If the H in Hakeem is silent, I need to question all of my teenage years.
