My younger daughter went to the Spring DPS Super Center to get her learner's permit. She made a "get in line" through their on-line/messaging appointment system. She tracked the "line" on-line, and went to the office as she was supposedly getting closer to her "spot" in line. I just heard from my wife... they need to return tomorrow to take the actual test. All they were able to do this afternoon after being at the office for hours was to turn in her paperwork. Apparently the DPS office only does tests until a set time, and it was long past. btw, I had to email scans of bills that just happened to have my wife's name on it (most only have mine). I thought California's DMV offices were bad...
Yes, as difficult as a statewide identification process is in the most populous state in the union, who would think it would be less efficient in the second most populous state, and the most populous one without any income tax revenue. At least you're not blessed with having heavily accented and absent minded enough parents to let you go your entire life with different first name spellings on your birth certificate and social security file. "Come back when you figure out whatever your real name is, sir."
