I don't think Schwartzman is that bad, I think he is playing to script, I think the cop is ok, I love the actor but he is all over the place. I wish the Rabbi was more involved but I still have 3 more episodes but he is underutilized IMO. The girl is great but it's like she is in another show, that's my biggest issue this year is the disjointedness of it all. Will get back once I watch the conclusion.
I have just finished Season 1 of the Wire. Finally started watching after years of putting it off. I have to say...it's very good. Do I see the hype of it being one of the GOAT's? Not yet. But I'm enjoying it well enough.
it's all about the endings, once you have lived with these people over the 5 seasons things start carrying much more weight and everything has consequences. Will be interesting to see how you like season 2, it's one of my favorites but a lot of people did not like it.
I loved season 2, Ziggy is one of my top 5 wire characters. I also think season 2 had a lot to say about the plight of the "working class" and its especially relevant in 20/20 with the rise of trump. I never got the slow critique I always loved the dialogue and the acting. I think a lot of people expected The black Sopranos.
The BET edit of season 2 was precisely the black Sopranos as they pretty much cut out the port storyline. Never seen it, but that must've been some seriously disjointed viewing. https://dailybruin.com/2007/04/15/ibets_editing_butchers_wire_story_linei
It felt like a side story to me. Season one focused on the Barksdales, then season two was like a huge shift to new characters and setting. Then it goes back to the Barksdales. That's at least what I remember but I watched it maybe over 12 years ago. I should probably rewatch it and maybe get a new appreciation for it. I know a lot of people spoke highly of season two.
That's it exactly but it's better on a rewatch because you understand how all of those things play out and it's not great that they never went back to anybody on the docks in the other 3 seasons. I appreciated it more on the rewatch, I have watched 3 times in total and enjoyed it every time, you miss a lot the 1st time.
Never understood the Skylar hate, what is she supposed to do as a wife? Especially to husband who has serious deep seated issues.
