Was hoping to find new dramas to watch in my downtime. At the moment I've just finished Breaking Bad and i absolutely loved it! Is there anything similar to this that's out there? Mad Men and Friday Night Lights have been suggested by a friend, yet to watch either but they just don't feel like their on the same level! Thanks.

If you liked Breaking Bad, you'd probably also like Weeds, Dexter, Californication, the United States of Tara, and/or Hung.

You won't find another show as good as Breaking Bad, but my suggestions would be

    Dexter
    Californication
    Spartacus
    Battlestar Galactica
Six Feet Under (although I haven't finished it yet)

Even though I agree that Weeds should have been over long ago. I still enjoy it, if you haven't watched. It's on Netflix :)

    If you like Breaking Bad:
    The Wire
    Dexter
Chicago Code (I can't believe they cancelled this after one season)
    The Killing

The Wire is the best crime drama ever made in my opinion with Breaking Bad and Dexter battling for second.

    All-time best:
    1. The Shield
    2. The Wire
    3. Battlestar Galactica

    Currently on-going:
    1. The Walking Dead
    2. Spartacus
    3. Game of Thrones

..no Dexter, because except for Dexter, all the characters on that show are so crappy.

Come on guy, give Friday Night Lights a chance. Weeds probably won't cut it, Breaking Bad's first season alone blows away the best of Weeds.

It'd help if you gave a specific genre to focus in on. But in general if it's on amc, hbo, showtime, you should give it a chance. BBC should be included too, Dr who is great, Sherlock is 4.5 hours of fine television, and of course Top Gear is always good for a laugh.

    The Wire was great.

Game of Thrones I can't recommend that enough.

I'd give Dexter a try. I recently started watching Breaking Bad and just caught up with the current episodes. Breaking Bad, Dexter, and Top Chef (because I'm a foodie and my wife is a chef) are the only three shows I watch other than the NBA.

I did watch The Wire a couple of years ago and thought it was pretty outstanding. It tailed off a bit the last couple of seasons, but overall that was a pretty epic 5 seasons. Omar is one of my all time favorite characters from film and TV.

I'm looking forward to watching Game of Thrones after I break down and read the books. I also quite liked Rome.

Mad Men is absolutely at that level - some would say even higher - but it's just a very different kind of show. A very slow burn. Still, I think it's absolutely fantastic and when both Breaking Bad and Mad Men are on AMC is incredible.

Too bad they've been screwing up so much lately.

The Wire has been mentioned I see, so all is right with the world.

For dramas Mad Men is the best show on TV

#2 for me is probably Justified

Breaking Bad is somewhere behind that. Good show Good acting. Season 3 was bad. Overrated. Too much bad writing and Deus ex Machinas to be on the level of the elite Mad Men, Wire, Sopranos type shows

Was pleasantly surprised by Game of Thrones.

    This.

    Mad Men
    Boardwalk Empire
    Dexter

Not crazy about Californication. Weeds... meh. The Wire was decent, though I wasn't as crazy about it as most.
