Anyone watching this? I'm a few episodes in and still not sure what all the hoopla is about. It does make me want some scotch and a cigarette.
I caught the last season and them caught up on netflix. Though obviously not for everyone, it's a great show. Beautiful women.
I'm through Season 1 and few into Season 2. Sometimes I feel like I'm not intelligent enough for this show Or am I just overthinking?
I can respect a show like this, but I gave up on it about half way through season 1, not my cup of tea
More effort required. get through the first season (you will start liking it slowly, then start loving it , and then, addiction, followed by "best show on tv" posts)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/series/notes-from-the-break-room Best reviews, episode by episode, that I have ever come across about a series. If you didn;t understand something, they'll have the answer; if you are fascinated and want to learn more about the series, there's great commentary about it. I can't wait for next season.
Most adult show on television; WASP culture and the extent to which that is still entirely relevant at the executive level. "There are a few people who get to decide what will happen in this world, you've been granted a peek behind the curtain." Also, a corporate setting is probably the only place that really allows for authentic white male melodrama. Crime and law shows have racial, psychological and class subtext, war is too political or historical, and family sitcoms are for women and children. Dallas tried to exploit the corporate conceit; but oil men, Southerners and male chauvinists were such villians in the late '70s that the substantive business stuff got thrown by the wayside. Also, boomers and Gen-Xers have been so obsessed with the '50s and late '60s - '70s over the last 35 years that recalling this specific time frame, the early '60s, seems just original enough.
Never watched it and probably never will. Don't feel bad if you don't get all the hype. I watched the first three episodes of the Sopranos and thought it was some of the worst television I had ever seen. Obviously, I was in the minority.
I didn't have to watch that to not be interested, just saw one of the cast promoting a "Goomba Cookbook" on Carson Daly's talk show and didn't even bother. Also, any ten minute span from Goodfellas, Casino or Mean Streets has more good film in it than all other mob movies combined.
Son of a b.... I'm gonna go on a rant here. I watched the first 7 episodes of this show on netflix. My gf has watched the first season and half of the second. I got timed out or something, and when I clicked next episode, it took me to where she left off, mid season 2. I watched the rest of the 2nd season without seeing the 14 or so episodes before it. I didn't even realize it. I don't even want to watch it anymore.
