WTF, how did they change the ruling? That was clearly an inside-the-park home run.

Looking at the PBP on ESPN amuses me: "Tucker tripled to right. Tucker scored."

Didn't know you could score on a triple.

I didn't see the play until now. There was no error. It's a home run.

It was scored differently 3 times:

    3B+Error, HR, 3B+FI

It's not the play by the OF initially, it's the play when the ball gets back to the IF that is causing the issue

Its a HR, no reason to bring in legality's or rule books. He hit the ball and made it home on the same hit, what the fielders did does not matter... Sure, they can find something to call it off but its stupid. Just give him the HR.

In what world does a fielder's choice occur without an out recorded?

I get it but there was no error there and there was no fielders choice. Tucker made the decision to just keep running and that caught the infielder off guard because he was walking it back to the infield. The pitcher was signaling for the ball and the fielder tried to throw home but it was cut off.

    Recaps, but doesn't explain nuthin.
Tucker made it home standing up. Lawlar’s throw did not reach the catcher, either. No one dropped the baseball or made an obvious error. Chase Field’s official scorer, Jack Magruder, initially deemed that Tucker tripled and scored on an error on McCarthy. A few minutes later, Magruder changed his call to a triple and a fielder’s choice.

Two innings later, Magruder announced that — after consulting with the Elias Sports Bureau — Tucker would be awarded a home run. In his announcement, Magruder cited Major League Baseball Rule 9.12a, which states, in part, that “slow handling of the ball that does not involve mechanical misplay shall not be construed as an error.”

Twenty minutes later, after more consultation with the Elias Sports Bureau, the call was changed back to a triple and a fielder’s choice. In making this final announcement, Magruder used rule 9.04c, which reads “the official scorer’s judgment must determine whether a run batted in shall be credited for a run that scores when a fielder holds the ball or throws to a wrong base.

Ordinarily, if the runner keeps going, the official scorer should credit a run batted in; if the runner stops and takes off again when the runner notices the misplay, the official scorer should credit the run as scored on a fielder’s choice.”

Kyle Tucker no longer has a home run. It remains a triple. This is the fourth official scoring change of this thing. Incredible.

Though he relished the team’s American League West title and subsequent celebration, Tucker did seem confused afterward in the Astros’ clubhouse. He said the team’s iPads still showed he hit a home run.

If the ruling remained a triple, Tucker said he planned to petition the ruling in hopes of being awarded a home run and reaching the coveted milestone.

A fielder's indifference on a HR? Unlikely. Who would allow a run just to score?

I just wish Tucker went full bore from the time the ball left his bat.

He kind of just cruised around first base and it really didn't help that he kinda stopped and checked where the ball was after he rounded third.

I think the play would look a lot different if he was rounding past 3rd when the ball was just getting to the infielder and then the infielder hastily try to throw home caught off guard by Tucker's aggressive running.

The play just looked a little bizarre, as in what just happened.

I do believe he stands a decent chance at it getting overturned.

Maybe he should’ve just hit it out of the park like a normal human being for a HR. “Robbed” or not, if he wants to be elite he needs to send it- I’m honestly surprised he didn’t hit 35-40 hr this year.

Let's be honest, Acuna has silenced all 30-30 talk. It just doesn't matter.

When a team tries to throw out a runner advancing on a groundball, but that runner is safe and the runner at 1st would not have been.

All that is important to me is that Tucker gets his real HR stroke back for the playoffs. He has been quiet in that department of late.

Maybe they should add the Tucker little league HR rule to the rules book to allow for these type of situations. It was a bizarre play. Can't remember ever seeing anything quite like it.

Much, much more importantly, bold in the back of the bubblegum card.
