I think you are being unfair. I understand why you would say that Dems cheapened the hearings. That's because it is only in comparison to this from the GOP. So of course neither the Dems nor anyone else can live up to that high standard. When the GOP heightens the proceedings to such a high degree, it will look like the opposite side is cheapening it.
