How much graft and corruption can be leached out of the American citizens pockets into rich folx hands?
Company of RICHIE RICH - gets the contract for 20 billion
They hire a bunch of minimum wage workers (probably sub minimum wage illegals)
They buy the cheapest and most worth less materials
    They build a sh!tty wall
Then get the contact for 20 years of maintenance on the wall - Another 20 billion
Maybe even contract for security on the wall .. unless it is promised to another Richie Rich company

The issue is with both parties. We really shouldn't force people into either/or of the two boxes and criticize them when they do not meet the general expected status quo. I am much more disappointed when an individual falls in complete line with their partys platform.

Not that the wall project isn't a waste of time, but there are a few too many exaggerated assumptions here.

O beautiful for chain link fence,
Far as the eye can see,
For being more like East Berlin
    And mighty North Koree!
    America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy fence with Trump and Pence
    From sea to shining sea!

Anyone stupid enough to think that Mexico was really going to pay for a border wall is almost as dumb as those who believed "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it"

    Well that's how Trump won....

Deport the illegals! Make Mexico pay for the wall! Stop Muslims from immigrating and create a registry! NAFTA ruined the country!

The important thing is the wall has to be built. If Mexico pays for it, great, if not, fine. But illegals have to be stopped from coming into the country.

Personally, I can do with landmines on the border as a stop-gap solution.

That's stupid. Land mines? Are you a sociopath?

A virtual wall would suffice. The Mexican-US border is the world's busiest border crossing where hundreds of billions are trade occurs each year. A wall won't do anything with that many goods and people crossing every day.

??? If they're legal, they have to go through border checks, which is done today. That wouldn't change with a wall so how is the wall going to affect legal trade?

You don't think drugs and humans aren't being trafficked through completely legal means? Cartels own businesses and shipping companies.

Yes. Those will have to be fixed too. But the wall is needed for people not going through border checks.

There are ways around a wall. You know like over and under it. It would take too long to even be effective (by that time people will have found other ways to get here if they really wanted).

Bad idea, waste of tax payer money.

    Also, landmines!? What the ****!?

Illegal immigration simply isn't a problem. I'm pretty sure it's a big net benefit to America.

And how is a wall going to change anything? Just massively increase legal immigration and your illegal immigration problem goes away quickly. Clearly there is a huge demand by people to move to and work in America and I don't understand why we are severely limiting them and then criminalizing them. Are there any studies that show very limited legal immigration is beneficial to America?

Illegal immigration to the Republicans is the same as Russia to the Democrats now. Total non-issues that people are freaking out over that target outsiders.
