Regardless you are still generalizing the treatment of animals in China based on a single incident. No doubt things are probably handled there worse than the US, but that's also because we can afford to and presumably pay more for ethically treated meat.

I didn't make any comparison between US and China. I didn't make any claims about China's track record in regards to animal treatment.

I don't eat chimps as I don't eat ants either. I guess if I were to though, I wouldn't dwell on it too much on how they arrive to me in the market.

People are forgetting that the people who rescued those cats are Chinese too.

From what my roommate tells me eating cats is not a part of chinese culture, things like this happen because cat meat is cheap and restaurants mixes the cat meat with beef and pork.
