Our starting lineup next season should be: PG - Kyle Lowry SG - Jeremy Lamb SF - Chandler Parsons PF - Terrence Jones C - Greg Smith Let it play out. If we end up with the worst record and the #1 pick...GREAT! I will consider it a success.
Thats what the Kings thought. Still going to need Vets to show them the ropes and how to play NBA basketball.
I'm all for keeping Martin and Scola long enough for Lamb and Jones to develop. I dont think we should throw the rooks out there like that and just let them fall. We need to still keep a winning mentality around so the young guys can see what its like. Beginning of the season roster Lowry/Stephenson Martin/Lee/Lamb(DLeague) Parsons/Morris Scola/Patterson/White/Jones(Dleague) Asik/DMo After Trade Deadline roster Lowry/Stephenson Lee/Lamb Parsons/Morris White/Patterson/Jones Gasol/Asik/DMo That way during the offseason 2013 Lamb will have maybe enough experience and time in the offseason to compete for the starting spot at SG making Lee our 6th Man. White becomes the starting PF after Scola is traded. Patterson and Jones compete for the backup spot. Morris starts to get some time. Lowry stays and finishes his contract. DMo falls behind on the depth chart as he gets accustomed to the NBA style of play while Gasol and Asik anchor the center position.
I don't see anywhere near 6 centers worth tanking for. Maybe 1. Noel hasn't even played a college basketball game yet. I don't see Zeller panning out as a pro.
Dont b**** and moan when we win 13 games. And you better be at the games and supporting the young team. Don't give me none of that "I'm not spending money for a team that wins 13 games."
Doubtful that Les allows them to play all the young guys and trade most/all the vets. That would mean "tanking" and Les won't allow it. Besides, I doubt McHale would be on board with that strategy, either. Most veteran coaches want nothing to do with being in charge of a team that tanking because they know that chances are by the time the team is good again they probably won't be the coach there anymore. This is why guys like Coach "Sleepy" usually do not start rookies or even give them many minutes...
If the NBA was fair like the NFL and MLB, the worst team would get the number 1 pick but Stern controls the lottery behind the scenes, we will get the number 1 overall pick.. when Stern says its time.. sad to say
Yes I agree, the Rockets are currently in great position to develop their young talent, and get a high draft pick in a draft full of high upside centers with the 2013 NBA draft. I say we role with what we got, and add Nerlens Noel via our 2013 draft pick + another lottery pick via the Toronto pick. 7'0 Nerlens Noel and 7'1 Donatas Motiejunas would make for one best frontlines in the NBA for next decade.
And what happens if we have the worst record in the league, yet STILL end up with only the 4th pick? You gonna be okay with that?
