This is a rank of last season's "touches per game" on this team. What should that order be this year by the end of the upcoming season? I'm thinking 1. KPJ 2. Green 3. Sengun 4. Smith Jr. 5. EG It really depends on whether KPJ is still the long term primary ball handler for this team by the end of the season. One thing for certain, Dennis Schröder and Christian Wood aren't going to be clogging up touches.
Porter 65 ( still our best ball handler that brings the ball up the court and initiates sets ) Green 60 Sengun 51 J Christopher 42 Jabari 38 Tate 46 Tari 32 The others fall in place
Great thread. KPJ: 65 - 70 Green: 60 - 65 Sengun: 55 - 60 Gordon: 45 - 50 Tate: 40 - 45 Smith: 40 - 45
I’ll be outraged if my favorite player doesn’t get all the touches and outraged harder when the player I don’t like looks at the ball.
I wonder if the touch distribution from the last 10 games will be more in line with what we see this season from the expected top 3. Wood and Schroder only played in 3 of the last 10. Porter : 81.6 Green : 60.1 Sengun : 54.6
Give all of Wood's touches to Smith and split Schroder's touches to Green and Sengun. Give the touches of Augustin and House to Eason.
I think KPJ's touches are definitely way too high, especially for someone where 51% of their shots are 3s, but they shoot 48% from 3 on catch and shoot, and only 33% from 3 on pull ups. He is clearly a very good catch and shoot player, and so he needs to be utilized in those positions more.
In the final 20 or so games of the season, Green will have more touches per game. But for the season on average, it's KPJ > Green > Gordon > Sengun. Sengun should be higher, but if I'm predicting what will actually happen I think Sengun will end up 4th on the season.
It is a Five Out, everyone can do everything type of free flowing system which isn't possible. You got to have an All Star caliber player at every position to exploit that who are all Swiss army knives.
