Around this time of year, for the last 2, I have missed my favorite player of all time. Barry Sanders. So, in his honor, I give to you the greatest players I have ever seen play the game of Pigskin. I am talking the one where I had the most "DAAAAAAAAMN!" before I spoke the next word 1) Barry Sanders 2) Jerry Rice 3) Joe Montana 4) Reggie White 5) Lawrence Taylor But to show you how good Sanders was, think about this. He has not played in 3 years and Emmit Smith has just passed him yardage wise. Barry would easily be 1st all time rusher and this year he would be turning 32. What the guy did at his position was what Olajuwon did at his position and Jordan at his and Magic at his. Freaky is the only way I can describe moves, talent, and vision like this guy had. Barry!! DO AN MJ AND COME BACK!!!
I've got to move this to top 10. 1.Rice 2.Elway 3.Montana 4.Taylor 5.Deon 6.Barry 7.Marino 8.Brown 9.Lott 10.Young
I agree with both those lists. For some reason however, I think that Deon was overrated for what he did. Did he really have substance to go with the hype?
The best I've seen. I don't care about longevity, only greatness. 1)Brown 2)Cambell 3)Montana 4)Sanders 5)Taylor 6)Faulk
I don't have a problem with your list as long as you clarify it as "our generation". Well, I don't see how Reggie White is in the top 5 over John Elway, but other than that, I agree. However, if you do all-time, you got to consider guys like Jim Brown, Dick Butkus, Walter Payton, and Johnny Unitas.
Jim Brown- arguably the greatest American athlete ever. Brown still hold the Long Island high school basketball scoring average record, is considered the great Lacrosse player ever, and averaged more than 100 yards per game in his career. Jerry Rice- Look at the record books for most career touchdowns and look for the receiver in second place on the list. Rice dominated his position like nobody will ever do again. Joe Montana- clutch. L. Taylor- Taylor absolutely redefined the LB position. It is sad to see him today as he battles crack cocaine. Deon Sanders- He was not overrated. He dominated the field when he was healthy, and was perhaps the greatest open field runner to ever step on a football field. Have you ever seen anybody else you would rather return a punt? Has anybody ever been more of a threat to score off an interception?
The offensive line guys never get any respect. Isn't is sooooo sad!!!! Can't any of us,,,,just one of us,,,,include Mike Munchak or someone on the line.
One Thanksgiving holiday in Miami, me and my dad were about to tee off at the public course there. A gentleman asked to join us and it was none other than Jim Brown! He shot around par for the round, walks like his knees are really fuked up and didn't celebrate Thanksgiving (I asked him if he was here for the holiday and looked at me like...PLEEEZ!) Anyhow, a round of golf with Jim Brown was had. Very cool cat!
I'm glad everyone has Elway above Marino. To mee it's not even close. Elway is heads and shoulders above Danny-boy. My top 5. Rice Elway Barry Sanders Jim Brown LT
You and me both. Teams may have thrown away from him because of his repuatation, but he was a horrible tackler and also was way too confident of a cover man. He was beaten more times than some would like to admit.
1) Pelé 2) Franz Beckenbauer 3) Gerd Mueller 4) Maradona 5) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge 6) Fritz Walter 7) Ferenc Puskas 8) Alfredo di Stefano 9) Johan Cruyff 10) Michel Platini 11) Zico 12) Marco van Basten 13) Dino Zoff 14) Socrates 15) Bobby Charlton
His hype was so great it may have exceeded his substance, but his substance was so great, it may have exceeded any other DB to play the game...
Awesome, oily Why is this thread title All-Time? All-Time list is as follows: 1. Jim Brown 2. Johnny Unitas 3. Sammy Baugh 4. Otto Graham 5. Walter Payton 6. Gale Sayers 7. Don Hutson 8. Charley Taylor 9. Jerry Rice 10. Lawrence Taylor
Warren Moon The Fridge The Iggy Shuffle Brian Pillman Boomer Esiason Probably not the best ever, but they are my all-time faves.
With comments like that, it's blatantly obvious how you got the name the great one. It's scary to think what Elway might have done had he not had Satan, er, Dan Reeves running the team for a large chunk of his career.
