It's a very bad joke, and it wasn't meant in any way actually related to you, but rather how close your moniker is to a certain pejorative racial term for a black man who tried too hard to fit in with a white-dominated system.

Cathy Freeman is a bit of a different case though. In her career she has always been very upfront and proud to be Aboriginal. Remember she once carried an Australian AND Aboriginal flag around the stadium after a big win. Her Aboriginality is something she has put a focus on during her career.

We have a HEAP of Aboriginal football players and that are hardly ever singled out unless they are doing something for the Aboriginal comunity or talking about it themselves.

Its a bit different when someone comes out and actively promotes the fact they are Aboriginal like Freeman does.

I just cant believe that these days people still bring the race issue into sport.

As a follow up to that, here in the UK, she's only referred to as Australian really... There might be the occasional piece about her racial heritage, but generally, she's just an Aussie.
