But this is a God thing. There is too much to even mention for it to be coincoidence. Everything that weve prayed about is now coming true. And dont even start about being dragged through something........ive been there; done that. I know exactly what its like. And for what its worth, this thread was supposed to be for moestavern19 and finalsbound because they know what im talking about. This is God bringing us together and not of our own doing. This thread was not to announce a wedding anytime soon..........but only to thank derek for understanding. We are waiting for God to put that together; if that is His will. We are taking time to just enjoy ourselves and to just be in love.
i dont follow this train of thought at all. why would you not want to be in control of your own destiny? things happen in your life because you make them happen... leaving everything up to God almost seems like a cop-out. sorry if i'm being offensive.
I'm a firm believer in things happen for a reason...At times, it may seem you're in control, but something happens, that makes you think otherwise, or at least for me... However, I agree leaving everything to chance is a bit far-fetched, but to each his own...
There is no such thing as chance. It only appears as chance because we don't know the nautural reasons behind it.
Congrats emoreland! I remember how hurt and devestated you were a couple of months ago. I sincerely hope everything works out for you and her as you deserve it!

It's easier for some people to not have responsibility for their actions and the course of their life. If bad things happen, it's part of a bigger plan. If they screw up, it's part of a bigger plan. It is a cop-out, but it's also a choice that people should be able to make. Religion has been around for a very long time and it will continue to be around. It takes away our greatest fears (death, uncertainty) and gives a safety net for an entire existence.
LOL I didnt interview her. She was interviewing for a church here.....they are bringing her in for the summer to lead their youth ministry. They flew her in for the day and were so impressed by her that they cancelled everyone elses appointments. She is gonna be here for the summer.....and so I guess that will give us 3 months to pray over this and see where God leads us.
I'd try to mix in some movies and dinners and maybe an Astros game or six, but then again I've been outta the dating scene for 12 years and dont know what you crazy kids do these days for fun. So you did meet her in person when she came in town?
I don't think when "bad things" happen it is part of a "bigger plan" I think when bad things happen it is a direct result of our God-given free will and therefor a consequence of controlling our own destiny. It is far from a cop-out, but clearly someone like yourself who harbors deep resentment towards Christianity because of "bad things" that happened won't be having anything but negative things to say about it.
So is emoreland's happy situation a result of his god-given free will and therefore a consequence of him controlling his own destiny? Always wanting it both ways...
If we knew it would easier. I really don't know where God's will starts and where human fate begins. I am ignorant on the matter, I admit that. It is always easy to say anything good that happens is "of God" and anything bad that happens is "The Devil trying to get me down." Sometimes God allows bad things to happen (see the Book of Job) and I can't say I understand it. I choose to believe it and that is my decision. You choose to believe whatever you want and I'm not going to judge you for it. But continue to try and badmouth my belief system on the basis of something entirely unrelated and I will be sure to set you straight.
