Yeah, Harris noticed and was disgusted by the toe in 2004. Yao continued to play on it without complaint for another 1.5 years until his bone got infected and he was in danger of losing the toe during the 2005-2006 season. Then when he missed games for it, it was the beginning of the injury-prone label.
