We should also add a yellow star in our jerseys.
The chinese court, ads and letters are not enough.

"We" can certainly afford to lose that Chinese revenue. Broke boy Tilman can't

Because every other NBA organization is depending on another country right...instead of their freaking hometown.

Yall need to get a grip. Last time I checked, the rockets were a local sports team in houston. not an extension of china.

No way, look at how the Morey-built Rockets beat up on the Yao-built Sharks

We already wear the Commie Red uniforms.

Just need to add some yellow stars on top of the Rockets logo and we are good to go.

Jokes aside I wouldn't mind hiring Yao as some kind of consultant role for the team later on in his life

How about hiring Yao as the Houston Rockets consultant for the NBA market in Hong Kong?

Yao's CBA just banned rockets so hell no. In fact we need to unretire his jersey.

Maybe they'd be kind enough to give us a city edition jersey with something about Houston on it.

Maybe we should start a petition to drop Yao from the retired jersey number from the Toyota Center. We need a gofundme page for Morey just in case he is fined by the NBA.

I can't believe the rockets existed before 2002, and actually won championships too. o_O

How did they survive without Chinese money? o_O

I heard there are two other teams in Texas called the Spurs and Mavericks who survived economically by fans in their city

Yao Ming is my all-time favorite Rocket. I’m not Chinese, I was born in Houston and ima be H-town till we drown. I just really loved following his NBA journey and I thought he was a funny, hardworking dude who always did his best for himself and for everyone who cared, despite all the pressure on him. He said it best in his Hall if Fame speech: He is a Texan and a Houston Rocket for life. No GM and no government can change that.

I’ll be sad if Yao can’t come back to Houston ever again because of some stupid tweet that affects literally nothing about a fight a zillion miles outside Loop 610. That’s ****ing annoying. I’ll also be sad Chinese fans who still want to watch can’t. Yao Ming’s career with the Rockets was the bridge to a special relationship that stood apart from politics. But sometimes sports is also a path to constructive political expression.

I understand the NBA wants to protect their China money, but I don’t believe Fertita can fire Morey without a major backlash in Houston. Not because Morey is beloved or untouchable—he’s not, not without a championship. But because Fertita and the NBA would lose a ton of respect and credibility if they were to capitulate to foreign pressure that way.

Any lost Chinese sponsors can be replaced. There is no shortage of brands that want to be seen on TNT and ESPN. If China erases the Houston Rockets, that only causes the Chinese government to lose credibility, not the NBA. You can’t erase the Rockets without erasing the career of Yao Ming. Sorry; he didn’t play for the Lakers. If the Rockets make the Finals, will China just pretend the NBA Finals are canceled that year? Yeah, great idea.

I support celebrating Houston Rockets legend Yao Ming at every opportunity. But he will not be the Rockets’ next GM.
