for hecks and giggles, i looked him up - guy hit 64 dingers in nearly 1200 ABs on the AA or AAA level - the guy DOES have some power... and cleveland could use a closer...

i wouldn't be thrilled if he were the crown jewel of the package; but he wouldn't be a terrible component, either. add 2 more stoppach types, and that's a deal i'd consider - assuming it's a route the team takes at some point.

The average sportsfan just isn't very smart. The average poster on the chron's blogs comes from a much shallower end of that pool.

I have no earthly idea how people can read that stuff. You're a glutton for punishment.

He's also a strikeout machine. He'd be a fine backup catcher, the Stros need someone better than that.

I'm saying this with absolutely zero knowledge of his work behind the plate, which is the most important thing.

Sadly, I am. :) It's a good time-filler between innings, though. And it's fun to tease Justice about it.

Other than that, I agree, it's pretty sad.

i wasnt trying to propose a straight up deal for him, i was thinking more along the lines of shoppach + blake or one of their youthful infielders shoppach was the only one i mentioned because i like the idea of having a different catcher. and im not sure how much we can get in return for lidge
besides it doesnt really matter because purpura probably wont make a trade anyways
