In movies/tv this is the corollary to the giant breakfast spread that the husband doesn't touch because he's in a hurry. 2 people meet at the bar for a drink, after a minute of conversation 1 leaves with 3/4 of their drink sitting on the bar

Political ads and slot game commercials. I'm not sure which are worse.

While we're on that, the sports media selling out to all the sports gambling sites. They are normalizing gambling addictions and making them sound fun.

    People.

but specifically, today, drivers with their phone in their hand totally disregarding the law. I am a Karen. I will point out to the cops that you’re driving recklessly. I was walking back from lunch and this jackassis just staring at his screen. Nearly hits me turning left through a red as I’m crossing the street in front of the Governors mansion on 10th if you live in ATX or know Austin. Then does it again on the next street. As I walked past a cop car, I knocked on his door and said “easy ticket for you in that black truck.” I hope he gets life.

People are so addicted to their phones, it annoys me when I am at a light, the light turns green and then after 3-4 seconds I have to honk at you and then half of us can't get through the light because you can't get off your GD phone................I am not on social media beyond Linkden and that's even becoming a cesspool of political BS so I don't get why you can't even stay off if it at a GD red light.

I can barely make a bowl of cereal for breakfast, so when I see someone make a huge breakfast only to have the recipient take a piece of toast annoys the hell out of me, how RUDE. Also, on TV, no one ever says GOODBYE after a phone call

People who pull up through a parking space to face out in the adjacent parking space, but not far enough so their rear bumper is sticking out into the 'vacant' space. Not only does that preclude larger vehicles from parking there, it 'hides' the car in question from people looking for a spot. Assholes.

In real life that 75% of breakfast left is going in my fridge and getting reheated for the next morning...

People who avoid politics hoping things will go away, instead of actively working to make it go away.

I am sure the technique of ridicule and condemnation is really going to make things “actively go away.” I’m sure it has really convinced people to see things your way.

Two days a week I work in an open-office concept with cubes for privacy.

It drives me nuts when people talk so loudly you can hear them from the parking lot.

They're 50 feet away but I know all about how little Betty Sue threw up this morning...

The improper use of "and I", which usually occurs when it is used as the object of a sentence or preposition (e.g., "She called Joe and I"), where "and me" is required. Use "and I" only when the pair is the subject performing the action; use "and me" when receiving the action.

Things that annoy me. At the moment, family.

My mom passed away on February 7th. She had symptoms of falling down, not being able to stand up. Back pain.
A week later, she's in the hospital. Tests. Stage 4 metastasized pancreatic cancer. Hospice. 16 days after that, gone.
Time for the family to come together over the life of someone who could drive them crazy sometimes but they loved and who reached 78 years but whose sickness was sudden, aggressive, and deadly.
    Right?

    X!!!

Suddenly you really see how deep the family fissures go. These people not talking to those people.
"Oh, we should memorialize her this way, not that way, so tacky."
"Well, this is what she wanted."
"No, she hated that restaurant / church / whatever the f***, we ought to do this, we ought to do that."
"Why didn't your sister invite so-and-so? Well, I'm not coming, then, either!" (The uninvited person happens to be in a long rehab stint and that side of the family is keeping it hushed up for no real good reason but you can't break confidence.)
Then you have others not communicating because of their divisions over politics. Really? Now? You can't ignore that, now?
This barely scratches the surface of the bulls***.

Things that annoy me. Family members. (And some of them do not. Thank goodness.)

I'm very sorry for your loss. Too young.

I am dealing with that on a smaller scale. My aunt just died overnight last week without warning and final arrangements have been a tug of war between her daughter (my cousin) and my 101-year-old grandmother. I've had to step in and back my cousin on everything, because of course my aunt's children should have the final say. To that end, my grandmother listens to men so I was able to talk sense into her. But it's still very stressful in a time of grief.

VERY stressful. And thanks for your condolences.

I haven't even been able to process my mother's passing except in moments when you can't ignore it. I had to pick up her ashes the other day. That was a rough one. 78 years of one's life reduced to a little container. I found myself showing my wife scenes from "Meet the Parents" and "The Big Lebowski" (she remembered the former, had never seen the latter) on how not to handle someone's ashes ("Jinxie!" / "Oh, jeez, I'm sorry", "WTF man, why is everything about Vietnam with you?")

Condolences to you and your family. Grief can really bring out long held "stuff" that roils out in strange ways. Hang tough.

This is a common error that people make. "She called Joe and me" being correct. I usually think of what would be correct if you took away the first reference / individual. "She called me." It wouldn't be, "She called I." Unless it's a Bob Marley song.

Yeah that's my rule of thumb. People still argue about it, though.

As I have grown from the death of my parents, the biggest take away is to do right by your children and move forward. The rest of your family will never be happy because they had different relationships with your parents. It’s all okay because there is no “right way” because right is prospective. Be respectful but remember you have take care of your family. Give where you can —> It’s just a meal how cares about the restaurant (it’s leaving your body in a few hours anyway). It’s a lot easier to let stupid be stupid because that is all they really have. Let them “win” because they need it and move forward.
