Just noticed the Wizards are playing their 3rd game in a row... Played Thursday, Friday and tonight. I have never seen that before... Anyone know why or has this happened before?
I can remember Charles Barkley complaining when he was a rocket about playing 3 games in a row, he mentioned something about not even wanting to have sex 3 days in a row lol.
Apart from the postponed they also had too few games with too much rest between them And they were very LUCKY for that. Shouldn't even dare to complain about it. It gave the chance for both Beal and Anderson to come back with as few games as possible played.
It was done during the lockout season, but back in the 70's it was the norm. I remember Rudy saying during the lockout season that we did this all the time when I played.
Players play 20-30, maybe 40 minutes for starters in a NBA game. On off days, they practice for like 5 hours. Nothing wrong in playing 3 games in a row. They also have private jets so travel is not an issue
Sure nothing wrong with playing three, but doesn't mean they're gone have as fresh legs as their first game. You make it sound so easy. You can try even intense workout once and see how it feels the next day. Then try three in a row, and see if you can perform the same as the first day. Also, practice is never as intense as a professional competition.
NBA practices do not compare to real games. And NBA teams don't practice 5 hours on every off day. This isn't training camp or Europe.
It happened in the strike shortened (or was it lockout) 2012 NBA season too (when the Heat beat the Thunder in the finals). I think I remember watching the Rockets beating Miami on that 3rd game in 3 days. Time to look it up. Damn it. It was them beating Atlanta. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/HOU/2012_games.html
