It was a ridiculously stupid comment because why WOULDN'T someone want to leave a ****hole country for the USA.
He stated he doesn't want people from shitholes countries. What if you are a law abiding immigrant or US citizen who originated from one of these countries? Do you think the your own President now welcomes you?
"When a person shows you who they are, believe them the first time." It's no more surprising that Trump holds strongly racist views than it is that Bernie Sanders doesn't like health insurance companies.
India literally is a shithole. 50% of the population poops on the side of the road. They also dump their dead into their major river.
I like how he mentioned Norway, one of the most socialistic countries in the world. Why the hell would they leave Norway to come to a place that donnie boy is trying to turn into a shithole?
Regardless of whether or not that is the case, and it is not, how can you defend the President's language- not to mention his comment about Norway, RocketsLegend? I think you are going to have to be the first person I use that Ignore thing for. It is one thing to support President Trump on a policy standpoint, but when you defend him on something like this, you just illustrate how morally vacuous of a person you are. I mean, you seriously ought to hang your head in shame. Please teach your children not to think the way you do, sir.
Hi, RL is a known troll. Many of us actually believe he's one of the Russian saboteurs. Note his join date. But anyway, no sincerity in that account and not deserving of your thoughtful input.
Yup. He joined a basketball message board and his first comments and the vast majoirty are in the D&D. I don't even think he's a Rockets fan or ever was from Houston. He like never posts in the GARM.
Considering the context of the conversation, it's pretty clear to me that Trump was definitely referring to the people of those countries. Not the mountains, or horses, or economies or whatever. He made a bigoted comment, period. Even if he had said it using a non-vulgar word instead of "shithole", it would be just as despicable and bigoted. I'm pretty indifferent about the obscene language itself...I suspect that many past Presidents were foul-mouthed from time to time (but of course they had much better self-control, awareness and sense than Trump). And BTW, Trump's comment was made 100% post-Bannon. This is who Trump is and has been for the past several decades.
I have zero problem whatsoever with conservatives- conservatives have plenty of valuable ideas, as do liberals- and it's usually a matter of trying to glean the best from both worlds. But this poster should be condemning President Trump for these vile remarks. I have been to several countries in Africa, and if President Trump thinks that Africa is a ****hole, then clearly he has not visited the continent.
we don't have to imagine, that's exactly how work permits work. almost all countries required work permits and take a country like england where there are categories of work permits, many of which state that the work cannot be done by a citizen. this is to ensure that only foreign talent can obtain work in the country. so that in itself excludes "shithole" countries but no one is up in arms about work visa laws around the world. a bit off topic but relevant imo. trump is a idiot with a 5 year old level of vocabulary but this sort of reminds me of 9/11 and the response. i remember everyone was so hurt and angry but there wasn't a real enemy, a focal point to aim our retribution. so the usa fabricated an enemy to unleash it's fury. trump to me is like that. he says and does a lot of things (often in an immature, incoherent, way) that other people/countries do and say but he is that lighting rod for furious attacks because you can't fight an unseen or vague enemy. another example, the current #metoo movement. hey its a great cause and everyone including liberals are all in. that's great but where were all of them and you for the women of saudi and many other women in muslim societies? #notthem ... of course not but again you don't have a focal point to send your condemenation but with #metoo you do.
My gosh... are you comparing the response from many upset Americans right after a horrible terrorist attack to the offensive and indefensible remarks by the sitting president of the United States against people whose only crime is wanting to immigrate to the United States? Are people from Haiti an "unseen and vague enemy"? I know you feel the need to defend trump by somehow lessening the offensiveness of what he said, but you can't honestly believe what you wrote above.
Well, Houstonians are guilty of using the road for a toilet also. And how many times has a body been fished out of a bayou.
