The D’Antoni Effect: How Houston plans to build around James Harden Yahoo Sports Videos•Aug 26, 2016, 9:26 AM <iframe width='640' height='360' scrolling='no' frameborder='0' src='https://sports.yahoo.com/video/d-antoni-effect-houston-plans-142648557.html?format=embed' allowfullscreen='true' mozallowfullscreen='true' webkitallowfullscreen='true' allowtransparency='true'></iframe>
top 5 offense for sure, but can they become a top 10 defensive team anytime soon? that will be the mark needed to be a legit contender. until then, we are just talking about james inflating his stats and winning individual awards.
What's interesting to me is that Woj saved that video until now when it was clearly taped in July. Morey and Woj have a very special relationship and for some reason, Daryl wanted the video to wait.
Nice find, OP. Woj asked some good questions in what was obviously a softball interview (not that there's anything wrong with that - the organization could use some!), but left out the Elephant in the Room, the "i" word. Yes, we picked up two potentially key guys offensively in Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon, but can they stay on the court?
We were a top 10 defense just two years ago. I think point differential is a better indicator as SAS was a fantastic defensive team last year but lost to a team that matched up better wit them (OKC). I think with the currents Rockets squad we can somewhat be like OKC last year (great offensive team with length, versatility, and athleticism on the other side).
So, this is a companion interview at Summer League after Woj talked to D'Antoni. Woj definitely heard D'Antoni say Harden can get 11-13 ast/gm. GARM had a long argument here on that statement when the Woj / D'Antoni podcast from the summer league came out. If you haven't heard it before, here's the companion Summer League Woj Podcast with D'Antoni. The link includes an outline of timestamps so you can jump through the discussion. http://art19.com/shows/vertical/episodes/dcba8ef1-bb02-41ac-94cd-144b7beb16fa
Maybe, but Woj was posting a lot of podcasts from Summer League that week. He posted one with D'Antoni covering the same topics here with Rosas. See my post above. The Vertical probably didn't want to post two the same week for the Rockets, when they had JVG interviews and Donovan and plenty of others, so they just held it for the slow part of the summer.
It was only bballholic who heard the discussion wrong, and only because his obsession required him to.
