We still had a 6 point lead at halftime.

And Barkley was an older player, more prone to injury (he'd have the career-ender just one year later), and Hakeem was coming off mid-season knee surgery.

Both teams had players just a tad past their prime... I'm not afraid to admit that (and I'd still have made the trade at the time for Charles... knowing what I know now).

That has nothing to do with the 1996-98 Rockets eating the Jazz' collective lunches. Please stay on topic.

I know your nickname is "antisonic"... but this thread sounds a lot like what Seattle Supersonics fans are saying about their 93-95 teams.

The difference being that Dikembo Mutombo doesn't elbow people in the face or apply blatant wrestling holds in a basketball game.

The Rox had the Sonics dead, but not buried. By the time they mentally/physically came back they were down 0-2 to the Utes.

I still believe that if they had put away Seattle in Game 5 they would have beaten MJ.

I still believe if they had started Willis on Karla and put Chuckster on Russell they would have beaten MJ.

I still believe if they had held on to win Game 6 (they led big, blew it) they would have beaten MJ.

I still can't believe they haven't won a series since Sonics...

    Right there with you.

And I feel if they hadn't gotten so high on their horse after sweeping the puppies, they would have taken care of business against Seattle.

That really was a great team when you go back and look at them. That team would cream anyone in the league today.

that shot would've meant ALOT more if the jazz had actually won the whole thing.

i live in jazz country and when they bring this up all i have to do is remind them that the jazz may have beat us but they still don't have a ring to show for it.

the jazz still HAVE NO RINGS. and i find peace in that.

now mario elie's shot? ...that was a shot for the ages. ask a phoenix fan about that shot.

    ...silence was never so golden.

you've had a pretty easy life then.

but seriously - was it really worse then getting swept by the sonics the year before? or the years of frustration. or being called choke city?

we lost in 6 games, not the 7th. Utah was the better team.

I was a Suns fan when elie made that shot, and I was a Rox fans when Stockton made his shot.
