    Here is the rule.

Trades are not allowed "For two months after receiving the player in trade, if the trade aggregates the player's salary with the salaries of other players. However, the team is free to trade the player immediately, either by himself or without aggregating his salary with other salaries. This restriction applies only to players who were acquired using an exception (and not cap room)."

I could be wrong but I believe those are not considered salaries as per the language here so the answer is yes you can. We can trade either right now or trade them in aggregate two months from now as opposed to waiting three months for trading a free agent.

I realize Butler is a longshot but hey, OKC got PG13 for table scraps last offseason. Crazy things can happen when you start to stack good pieces.

i believe there will be a follow up move. maybe not right away but knight was not the defensive forward we were after. his contract is easier to move than ryno's and we held on to our FRPs so it looks as though this move was to make our package more financially palatable.

Trading Ryno without surrendering any draft picks automatically makes us a serious player for Jimmy Buckets if/when both sides recognize its time to part ways.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a long shot, but if he forces the issue and says he wants to be here, Minnesota will have to make a decision. Having all draft picks at our disposal gets us a seat at the table.

And Gordon.... just doesn't make sense to me that they have both gordon and knight...

Why? I don't think our 1st round picks are worth much. Minny has way better options than Houston for trading partners.

If brandon knight's knees are not ready to go, can we rescind the trade?

First, trade knight/chriss and a first to the heat for kent bazemore. Knight will have higher trade value than anderson bc he will be a decent reg szn player here and the first trade with atlanta didnt get done bc we didnt offer melton (they wanted a good prospect but our offer included qi). Chriss fills the role of good prospect for atlanta. The first round pick is incredibly valuable and will help us get it done. Bazemore is a great defender and can work well in our switching scheme but we still need more help on the wing as he is only 6'5. Then in the buyout we either get Demarre Carroll or Trevor Ariza to help fill that 3d role bc both guys are on 1yr deals and their teams will suck and want to tank. all the sudden damn we are better than we were last year.

Because we have a GM that doesn’t care about paying for a rental player that might walk after half of a season. Not a lot of GM’s are comfortable doing that.

Draft picks are always the focal point of these types of deals. Like I said, it gets us a seat at the table. Still a long shot, but if he makes it clear he’s going to walk, Minnesota is going to move him.

But plenty of teams trade for players in the last year of their deals; especially stars. Presti just pulled it off with Paul George.

And our late 1st round picks can't be the best offer Minny would get for a guy like Butler. I just think it's crazy to think we have enough assets to pull a deal off. But in Morey we trust.

    One thing I will say.

The rockets really do have the most guys out of any team that can legitimately create their own shot and score 20+ on any given night in Harden, cp3, melo, Gordon and knight.

Now they all have except melo play the same guard position so the fit is a little strange but maybe that’s what you need to beat GS.

I’ll give harden an exception because he’s big strong and of course the league mvp but knight Gordon and cp3 are all 6’3 or smaller there really pg in body type but all three are different.

It’s weird but maybe they all click.

I’d like to see MDA put melo harden Gordon knight and cp3 on the court at the same time. Defensively it’s bad but it would be interesting to see 5 guys who can get there own shot and create for themselves and others.

Odds are it’s not good I’ll admit but the best case scenario is really high.

In the case of both the 76ers and Lakers, I don't see why they give up any assets in a trade for Butler when they can just sign him in the offseason with cap space.

Boston already has a ton of wings...more likely they will save their assets for the brow.

We still need to target a defensive forward that can shoot. If Knight and Chriss look good in our system they can become extra trade pieces as opposed to the albatross that Ryno was. Chriss especially can increase his trade stock as young, athletic bigs don't grow on trees.

Butler is just a pipe dream. We'd have to give up at least Gordon, a good prospect, and pick and would probably be outbid anyway. These guys don't seem available yet, but if their teams are struggling I'd target Robert Covington, Nikola Mirotic, Kris Middleton, and Mo Harkless.
