Morey is not a dumbass. He took a flier on Melo, signing him to a low risk high reward type of deal. It didn’t work and Morey pulled the plug quite fast. Melo overall did not play well and that’s the bottom line.

He shot a terrible percentage from 3 and was awful defensively. The entire team looked like trash for the most part when Melo was on the floor.

Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon is the progenitor of all these Rockets legends that ended up in Toronto and eventually helping them win the championship.

I agree with this too, Rockets didn't lose anything at all for this. As it turns out, they were always going to lose to the Warriors so it really is all a moot point.

Count me in the minority here, but I really wish Melo would have worked on the Rockets and kinda agree with him that 10 games was too short. I don't know maybe he was a pain behind the scenes, and that OKC game was ugly, but in a season where Harden had to score 35+ every game, there was no spot in the rotation for a gunner? He couldn't have been convinced to take a role that was like, a glorified gerald green role (off the bench, extend time if he's hot, pull a little early if not)? I don't know, perhaps I am just another person being blinded by his silky smooth moves and forgetting the historically bad defense.

I don't think Morey is a "dumbass". The Rockets gave Melo a shot and it didn't work out. Morey realized very quickly that it wasn't going to work and he did what needed to be done. No GM gets it right all the time, and we all knew that Melo could be cut if the fit wasn't there. Acquiring Melo was always like getting a free lottery ticket. Maybe it would have a big payoff, but we lose almost nothing if it doesn't work out. Melo may have contributed to our slow start, but I don't really think he had much impact on our season when it was all done.

Pau gasol in which daddy stern saved his ass? He didn’t just go after melo once (who was renowned as a cancer) he did it multiple times.

One of the better GMs if we’re looking at it from a CPA perspective but def not when it comes to the bigger picture and chemistry

Melo is def selfish and all the things people accuse him of. Everybody knows this, the question is why the rockets didn’t in their pursuit of him for years.

So when Melo is saying for years they said he was the missing piece he’s right. This just paints the rockets as extremely incompetent or grade A bullshitters

The only reason I thought it might work is because he does/did fill a role I believe we need. In a close game or when we have a big lead, dropping the ball to the post and having someone score easy buckets. 2 point post buckets helps maintain a lead and drawers fouls.

Intersting, since they brought up coach D, I wish S.A. would have asked about Jeff too.

I love the Rockets and Im a fan for life but this make us look bad because I think this couldve been handle in a better way 10 games is not enough to realize it wont work out. If Daryl felt like what Melo said he shouldn't have sign him to begen with we lost a defensive specialist and we struggle defensively as a team not just because of Melo but dont get me wrong Melo needed to revent his game but this makes us look bad as an organization.

Bad endings in houston for Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul.

Let's see what happens with Mike D'antoni and Eric Gordon.

He said he doesn't blame friend Chris Paul or even two-time former coach Mike D'Antoni, and said he never had a conversation with James Harden about his Rockets exit.

Anthony said being told by Rockets general manager Daryl Morey that he was being let go was a shock.

"He came in and basically said, 'Look, your services are no longer needed,'" Anthony said of his conversation with Morey. "I was like, 'What? Hold up. What the hell are you talking about?' ... You telling me I can't make a 9-, 10-man rotation on this team?'"

Anthony said of his conversation with Morey that he "didn't like how that went down" and it caused him to have doubts about himself.

"That was an ego hit. That was a pride hit," Anthony said. "I started questioning myself after that. Can I still do this? What did I do? I asked him this. ... He just said it wasn't working out.

"When somebody in power that tells you that they no longer need your services ... I've been utilizing my services for a long time. For you to tell me you don't need that no more. I honestly felt that I was fired. I felt like [what] other people go through on a day-to-day basis. People get fired. I honestly felt like I got fired."
