You trade an unproven rookie for a proven veteran glue guy, plus you can dump Swift's dead weight. It's pretty obvious. I am guessing if they couldn't trade for Battier, they probably would have traded down a bit so they could get Thabo plus something else.
Screw moneyball on this one. Don't get me wrong, I feel lucky that we have Daryl Morey as our GM, but when it comes to recognizing star potential talent, he's not as good as those old school ones such as Jerry West and Pat Riley.
What are you talking about? Who were the stars Morey missed with the picks he had? Roy was the best one and he wanted Roy. What other "stars" could he get after Roy got stolen?
