Thanks, TheresTheDagger. I have been meaning to come on here and sincerely compliment you. I really respect that you, unlike a lot of people, admitted your voting preference and admitted openly flaws of both candidates and your reasons for your vote. It was very refreshing and I enjoyed reading your posts, even while disagreeing with the sentiments in general. I don't think your comment about not gloating will carry much weight though, TBH! We will see.
While I thought it was possible because of so many people fed up with government, I didn't think it would happen. I just didn't see him that strongly from his debates and tactics during the campaigning. But, if I learned one thing, then it is all the ranting and raving about how corrupt Hillary is actually paid off for Trump in a big way. Her email issue didn't help her as it provided plenty of ammunition. Like it or not, I think Comey helped Trump a lot as well.
Yes, that is the only reassuring thing. Trump win has come thanks to low turnout. If Clinton won I wouldn't expect any Trumpsters to be excited about it or in any good mood either.
I guess I have some crow to eat too. I didn't think he'd win the primary and when he did I thought he'd get blown out worse than any Republican candidate since before the Civil War.....I underestimated just how much people hate Hillary Clinton (rightfully so)
Your guy, Harry Reid, nullified your wish when he changed the Senate to a majority rules format. I hope that time will allay your vitriol, especially if Trump restores the economy with thousands of new jobs ... and makes America strong again.
Still in shock. Didn't see this coming at all. How could all of these scientific polls have gotten it so wrong? Did they forget to poll the redneck.....er, rural white demographic? I'm questioning everything this morning. Am I even a Republican anymore? Trump doesn't represent me. Neither does today's version of the GOP. I'm not scared of brown people, gays getting married or trannies in bathrooms. Where do I fit in? Am I a Libertarian? They're really weird - plus I haven't smoked pot since college..... But back to the subject of the thread....I was wrong. I thought there were enough Republicans against Trump to actually make a difference. I thought everything would be over after Hillary took Florida and I could go to bed. Then Trump and all his supporters would go back to their regular lives, the GOP would finally admit nominating him was a YUGE mistake, lick their wounds and come back a different party in 2020. I know, I know....you can laugh now.
There's no time that will alleviate the nonsense people like you have pushed for 8 years. You cheered bringing the country to a halt while pushing every stupid talking point you could imagine from birtherism to secret Muslim trying to destroy America. You haven't made America anything but a laughingstock in the world. Nice job.
This plays into the "worst candidates in modern history" theme to the election. The two major party choices were the Richard Nixon of the Democrats and the Silvio Berlusconi of America. Then there is the 3.5% that Johnson received, half of which is probably voters who intended to vote Republican but were repulsed by Trump (i.e. @Bobbythegreat ).
I don't even know how we fix this. Do all of us Democrats have to become Republicans to stop him? Cause sign me up if that's what we need.
I gave Trump zero chance. I was wrong as hell. Far more ashamed to live in a country where such an unqualified and awful person can be President than I am ashamed of being wholesale wrong on his chances.
It's worth noting that this result was completely within the margin of error of most polls. The soft-data that was influencing the aggregators is what is *really* surprising, as none of those bore out to be very accurate.
I was wrong. Disappointing that white males without college degrees were the main difference. The uneducated will still be uneducated in 4 years. The status quo is good for most of us. Let's hope we don't go into needless wars like Iraq, Afghanistan and the economy doesn't tank again like it did last time.
I didn't think he had much of a chance. I was really more wrong about Hillary. I never realized how polarizing she actually was. In hindsight, I let my bias get in the way.
Do you really think the US is going to fall apart like those countries? I mean, Donald Trump has not even become president, yet. In fact, the vote count is not yet officially final.
