That was tried. If you recall Obama held a two day summit with the GOP to do just that. It went nowhere because as usual obstruction not governing is what the right is all about.
2 days isn't enough time to roll up your sleeves and do hard work in a bi-partisan fashion it's the height of hilarity if some of you are coming on here and claiming that the dems didn't ramrod this thing down America's throat. ...but I'm not at all surprised that the dems aren't holding themselves accountable. Accountability is missing, starting at the top (Obama). Hell, Sebelius is still gainfully employed!
5,000,000 Americans lost their plans right out of the gate with Obama's plan is that success in your view? lol
Here you go, seems to be some short memories on the evolution of this legislation by the GOP. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/07/AR2010020703003.html
The only suggestions the GOP has ever advocated for to "solve" the healthcare crisis is tort reform which individual states already have and has done NOTHING to curb costs and selling insurance across state lines which has been proven in the credit card industry to be a failed concept because the companies will just move to whatever state gives them the legislation to screw over customers, i.e. South Dakota for credit cards. I am disappointed in Obama for understanding what's needed but not having the gumption to "ramrod" the public option. Healthcare insurance is a flawed concept and attempting to "fix" a concept that is inherently flawed is just ludicrous.
bigtexxx dodge, change the goal posts. I'd say compared to the 45,000 people that DIE every year without health care in the 20 years since Republicans trashed the Clintons for their attempts to reform health care, it's HIGHLY successful since losing your plan doesn't mean you won't HAVE a plan. Roll on clown show, change the subject again and change the goal posts without addressing the issue you brought up.
This will be the Democratic talking point when they start taking heat from the cluster that the rollout has been.
