I have no problem with Tennessee being ahead of us. They have quality wins over LSU and South Carolina, and their only loss was a 3 point one to a team whose only losses are to Florida and South Carolina.

Even though I feel that Tennessee is overrated and is nowhere near of being the 4th best team right now, there's good news if you're a Texas fan. Tennessee's schedule gets really bad really fast: Memphis, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt are the next 3 games followed by Florida. I don't see Tennessee losing the first 3 games (although they traditionally struggle with Memphis), but they will be knocked out by Florida. So, you won't have to worry about them (although I would love to see Miami kick the Vols' ass in the Rose Bowl!).

Here's what I think will happen:

Oklahoma without Jason White will lose at least one game maybe 2 games to Texas Tech and Texas A&M, probably to Tech since the game is in Lubbock. So, bye bye Sooners. This opens the door for Texas to win the Big 12 South, barring any upsets, and the right to play Nebraska in Dallas on 12-1-01.

Now Washington will be knocked off by Miami (the Canes will really be prepared and focused to beat the Huskies..remember it was the Washington loss that ultimately caused Miami not to play in the Orange Bowl last season). I don't think you need to worry about Oregon because if Texas beats Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship Game, then there's no way that Oregon is ahead of Texas. So, it looks like if these things happen: Miami going 11-0, Oklahoma losing again, and Texas beating Nebraska, that it would be a Miami-Texas national championship game, right? Well, maybe not. I know you guys don't want to hear this, but Florida will be a major problem. I know that they aren't up there yet, but wins over South Carolina, Florida State, and Tennessee (all of whom will be ranked & Tennessee will be highly ranked) will really push the Gators' strength of schedule up there. The only saving grace other than a Florida loss will be that Florida will probably play a decent but not highly ranked team from the west in the SEC Championship Game like an Auburn or an LSU.

Will a Texas win over the #1 team in the BCS in Nebraska be enough to offset the Gators' SOS? I wish that I had a better feel for this possible situation, but my feeling is that someone will get screwed and it very well could be Texas.

Personally, I don't care who Miami plays, assuming that they win out, in the Rose Bowl. It would be great to play Nebraska because we owe them for the '95 Orange Bowl. It is always refreshing to see Steve Spurrier lose. Texas would be an interesting match-up; the only problem would be that I would be in a damned-if-you-do and damned-if-you-don't situation. If Miami played Texas and won, no one will want to listen to me. If Texas wins, then I wouldn't want to listen to anybody here.

I am a Longhorn but we deserve whatever fate we get. We had a very easy schedule and lost our one chance to prove we were a very good team, not even scoring a single touchdown on a field within our own state. If a Pac 10 or SEC team goes 10-1 and gets in the Rose Bowl over us, I will be dissappointed, but would not have no complaint.

I am still hopeful we can make the Rose Bowl but we ensured it is not in our hands. If OU loses to A&M or Tech we have a good chance. If not, we need a Miami loss, OU lose to Neb, + neither a SEC/Pac 10 team to end with 1 loss (save perhaps WSU).

It doesn't matter to me much to me if we get a Cotton or non-Rose Bowl BCS game. In either scenario if we win out we would be ranked between 2-4, with no shot at #1 this year.

I should be upset about this.

Tennessee is not that good a team, in my opinion.

But then I heard that an Aggie was responsible for the stitches on Mr. McKinnie's head from the scuffle in Lubbock on Saturday. And that just makes me laugh, over and over again.

Screw Tom O'Brien! So much for any hope of an upset over Miami.

You know, BC has pretty tough recruiting standards for admission (which has caused coaches to leave before), so you'd think we wouldn't have the type of players that get suspended all the time.

Our coach, O'Brien, is a former Navy man. I think he's just too strict. If he weren't so strict, we might be contending this year.

Our secondary was supposed to be one of the best nationally. We should have had: super-stud sophomore Willie Pool, 6'5 (or something) Lenny Walls, a sure first-day draft pick, and senior Jonathan Ordway.

Well, O'Brien ticked off Ordway until he declared for the draft last year, despite being a marginal 6th-7th round pick. He signed as an unrestricted FA with someone.

Then Willie Pool gets suspended for some undisclosed violation of team rules for the ENTIRE FRICKIN' year! It wasn't academic. And it wasn't a violation of NCAA rules. TEAM RULES and a YEAR LONG SUSPENSION!

So, our expected terrific secondary now had one stud, a couple of decent players, and a couple of losers.

Now, Green gets suspended for ANOTHER undisclosed violation of team rules. Couldn't this have been put off, even if he was guilty, until we play Rutgers next week? I mean, that game is a 40 point win no matter who's behind the QB. Argh!

And instead of our #1 recruit backing Green up... it's some frickin' time-filling sophomore! Brandon Brokaw's a stud power back with speed... and instead we get a guy who can occasionally dodge a tackler.

I HATE THIS COACH! DIE TOM DIE! Give me Greg Davis any day.

Deshon Foster got suspended for this weeks Oregon game too. UCLA is not going to have much O firepower and Oregan will get now probably get a higher quality road win than is really is the case. At least UCLA isn't in the top 15, lessening somewhat the impact of that win. Basically, the NCAA is a joke, and the way College bend over to not appear to be breaking the rules sucks. Just recognized the NCAA sports as semi-professional, let colleges bring in whoever them want with whatever conditions they want, pay the kids some money especially if there familes are in hardship, and be done with it.

Then you've created a situation a hundred times worse than the MLB's problems. Can you imagine Baylor trying to compete for a recruit against Texas? Texas and other massive schools could just outpay everyone for recruits.

If you pay them all the same amount, then you're back to square one -- the cheating will still exist to pay one potential recruit more than normal to come to your school.
