Only the various shades of hawks, neocon or not are for democracy, motherhood and apple pie.

It is not a first for imperialists to be claiming to conquer or control under the banner of some idealistic concept.

If you don't want to invade and occupy Iraq and at least bomb Iran than you are not a true fan of democracy and civil liberties nor an opponent of totalitarianism like Bush- Cheney.

Lieberman at least admits this is a sudden interest in democracy on the conservative's part, but he finds it totally convincing as it is currently used by them as a justification for a Mid East program that he believes in.

Never mind the Bush-Cheney-Lieberman willingness to be virtually silent on such totalitarian governments such as Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt if they support current US policy. No preventive war to install democracy for these countries.

Never mind the recent attempts to overthrow democratic election outcomes in Palestine and Venezuela where they did not like the outocme, for instance. Apparently sometimes you have to have preventitive war of a coup to put in the right democratic outcome. They say they are for democracy so we are to believe them whatever their actions.

Sadly since only the current US hawks, neocons? view their actions, despite their rhetoric as being guided largely by democracy, in reality they are sullying the name of democracy and their actions are more akin to a pro-tobacco lobbying group with a name like citizens against lung cancer.

The problem that I see with your stance is that you only consider military force as doing something.
