Sumlin is going to be a pretty hot commodity in the offseason. I hate to say it but I think Virginia, Maryland, Colorado or Illinois might come a knocking and would be difficult to pass up.
Be hysterical if O.K State puts a beatdown on the mighty Horns...then ya'll can be the second best team in the state.
I don't know, I got to think that the chance to coach in a flagship state school in a BCS conference is pretty tempting. Oh yeah, I think you can scratch UVa or Maryland off the list, one of the two will probably snap up Mike London from Richmond from down the road, the defending I-AA champ and number 1 team this year - he's apparently a serious commodity (of course I got this from his agent who is a buddy of mine...but still.) I think the guy who REALLY f'd up was Briles. Had he held out longer he could have made a much bigger move upward rather than being stuck at Baylor. Granted he has done some good things there, but he's still got a big mountain to climb. Had he stayed with the coogs last year, I think he would have had a good shot at some bigtime jobs (Auburn, Tennessee, Washington, Oregon etc).
Agree 1000x. Briles is a rich man though, 12 million in his pocket even if he sux... so good for him. Sumlin is younger though and is going to be much more cautious I think in his next career move than Briles.
I know you're joking but if UH were playing UT I doubt many would be willing to give me UT and some points even if UT lost to OSU. As for Sumlin, he's got bigger name schools in his future but I'm not sure he's going to leave just yet. A couple more years of having UH do well and he can jump the mid-level BCS conference teams altogether.
Briles road to a bigger program just took a huge hit this past weekend when Robert Griffin went down for the season. Baylor's 2nd qb also got hurt in that game. They'll be likely starting their 3rd string qb this week. Briles needs Griffin to make himself look better. W/o Griffin, Baylor is going to suck again.
