No. Both players we received RB and #2 pick are no longer with the team, and Blacklock is barely hanging on in the league. It was and still is a terrible trade imo.
No. Hindsight or not, his given value at the time of the trade was far beyond what we got for him. Doesn’t matter what happens after. We got David Johnson and Ross Blacklock for him. I would still rather pay him 20 mil than that.
I would say we won that trade in the same sense that a person wins a nut-kicking contest by getting kicked in the nuts slightly less hard than the person whose nuts they just kicked.
TJ, I guess it's all in your perspective and how you want to spin it. The only two things I recall about Hop was he didn't like to practice a lot and OB's complaints about baby mama's hanging around. Not sure that qualifies as a cancerous attitude when you're dealing with pro athletes, but I certainly don't know what was happening in the locker room.
Anyone able to do mental gymnastics to justify that BOB trade needs to rethink things. Not only was it player lopsided, but we also took on Johnson’s entire contract for that pleasure too. I think it might legit be one of the worst trades in NFL history. It really was that bad AND it set this franchise into a spiral it still hasn’t recovered from yet.

Do remember that the Texans made that trade to get Watson LT protection, which is not a small consideration. Brian Gaine got run off by OBie for not finding that LT. If the Texans owner did not run off Duane Brown ... If Gaine managed to find a cornerstone LT via draft/trade/FA, ... If OBie had not ****ed every other GM move after landing Tunsil, ... If OBie had not been fired which PO Watson and was the likely basis for his trade demand, ... We would be stuck with the pair OBie and Watson which would not be the end of the world but a long string of 9-7 seasons, Brian.
True The beginning of the downfall was Bob McNair forcing the Brown trade and BOB sticking with Devlin, who struggled to develop players.
Lots of racial anger and stirring of the pot -- threatened to sit out a game because he "felt like a slave". The comment struck me as odd, because I don't recall any slaves working on multi-million dollar contracts. Then you had the public activism surrounding Jazmine Barnes which ended up being a false narrative... Hopkins was just causing too many problems -- it was all unnecessary. More behind the scenes too with oversight and accountability. Not a team player -- too selfish and sought out too many battles which created PR problems.
He sat out one game due to a contract dispute and the Jazmine Barnes issue did not effect the locker room. Many Americans felt the same way regarding that matter, it was a 7yr child.

LOL, what a silly, uninformed viewpoint. McNair botched a typical saying when he said "inmates running the prison" instead of "inmates running the asylum". Nothing racial was meant whatsoever. He misused a figure of speech and the media, like fools, ran with it. Those looking to advance a narrative pounced. And those who routinely get played by the media, did so once again and fell in line with the false narrative. The media routinely plays on the emotions of, ahem, certain people... and those folks then leap at the chance of playing the victim. Time and again it happens. So predictable.
Many people wish the NFL would get out of the political arena and get back to the game on the field and go back to the way the game was played before a pansy like God'ell took over.
