So the Texans felt good enough about Gaine to hire him... then let him run the draft... wait until all the good candidates are gone... and then fired him at the beginning of June?... not week earlier when the could have possibly gotten Douglas. Let me guess... they let BOB be GM and coach and Promote one of BOB’s goons to handle the day to day. All while BOB has convinced McNair that he can build a Patriots like dynasty? BEHAHAH... seriously the fans deserve better.
A lot of speculation last time was they only asked for permission on guys they knew were going to be "no" from their team. They wanted it to be Brian Gaine. Every other candidate was "denied permission." Felt very orchestrated.
Scott Pioli who recently left the Falcons is also one to watch. Him and OB are close. That is a potential match for the GM position. #Texans — patrick (@PatDStat) June 7, 2019 Very surprised but sounds like BOB will get to have a hand in who the GM will be. https://t.co/1BwlDkm3B6 — Matt Miller (@nfldraftscout) June 7, 2019 I think Nick Caserio is the name to watch. #Texans — Benjamin Allbright (@AllbrightNFL) June 7, 2019
That's exactly how I was thinking about it, the timing is just...odd The biggest time of the year for any GM is the offseason, the FA signing period, the draft...and the Texans thought he was good enough to use up one more offseason? They didn't think to have their evaluation before the offseason like every other team?
If they can get rid of the GM, then they can get rid of the head coach. The one exception is they know who their next GM is and want to let him pick his coach.... still, seems like a bad time to pick a GM, most good candidates are gone
