Uh, no. Why would the Texans trade for him then essentially cut him right afterwards by putting him on the practice squad. He'd be able to sign with another team the moment they sent him down. IMO, he'd have to come into camp and get injured or bomb miserably for that to happen.
Of our offensive linemen, Duane Brown, Chris Myers, Wade Smith, Brandon Brooks, Ben Jones and Derek Newton are locks. Outside of those six, I see Williams going on IR, the team keeping Harris, Quessenberry and maybe one more player that can play guard, which might be Menkin. Definietly can't see Gardner or Cody White making the roster based on what they did (or didn't do) last season and in this most recent preseason game. .

Wade could be out a minute and Jones hasn't exactly been stellar at LG. The dude is a true center and they should keep him there. Ques should be our starting LG and take over once the season is over. This should be Wade's last year. Menkin is good depth and I'd say has a greater than 50% chance of making the roster. White & Gardner will not make the team. There's no doubt about it.
How many can you put in the practice squad ??? I could see Bonner,Jefferson,and Bouty for sure. Dennis Johnson might be the return spcialist and Posey coming back will push Bonner to PS.

You can keep up to 8 players on the practice squad. My list of practice squad guys are: 1 A.J. Bouye CB 2 Chris Jones DT/DE 3 Jake Byrne TE 4 Cameron Collins ILB 5 Dennis Johnson/Ray Graham/Deji Karim RB 6 Alec Lemon/Alan Bonner WR (I see one possibly on the roster) 7 Justin Tuggle OLB (Gets Beat out for Roster spot by Jefferson) 8 Mike Mohamed ILB Other possible guys could be: Andrew Shapiro Eddie Pleasant (I think he makes roster for depth) Zach Boren (Really loved what I saw from this guy, and I think Clutts is cut and picked up off waivers) Andy Cruse David Hunter Possibly two of our UDFA RB if they aren't all picked up.
It's obvious that Jefferson has the athletic skills to become somebody in the NFL. Guys like that don't make it through waivers. We'll have to stash him on the 53man roster if we want to reap the rewards in future years.
