Do you think the Texan's completed their due diligence and made such an offer to Redskins? I doubt they ever called them once they got far enough in negotiations with Miami where they felt they could acquire Tunsil.

Yeah it was a heavy price but I’m good with it. Chances are Tunsil > 2020 1st rounder, Stills > 2020 2nd rounder, additional mid round drafts picks from the trades today to move up in the draft plus they will still be well under the cap next off-season to address other needs.

As much as I hated the Clowney trade, I love this trade.

They don't seem to be big on DD down there, judging by Caserio and others. So no, I don't think they pushed it with DC.

    A real GM might've.

What does Madden say about this trade?

I do think that Tunsil is probably going to come here and do well, I think people are really underestimating here the value of a franchise LT and that if he performs well and the Texans offense is soaring then this turns out to be a good deal.

Clowney's deal sucks, nothing good about it...

But like the Westbrook trade, this is a huge risk-huge reward kind of thing.

    Tale of two "GMs"

Dolphins insisted they were not trading Tunsil and they wanted him with the team. Even somehow "leaked" that there'll be a revolt if they traded him. They said the same about trading Stills. That led to getting two first round picks for him and Stills.

Texans dangled Clowney. Never came out and said how much they liked or wanted him. Reports were leaked of different teams they were trying to deal him to. That led to them only getting a 3rd round pick for him.

I do think this trade saved his locker room and instantly improved our line.

They've set 3 1st round picks on fire trying to find a tackle. (Tunsil's 2, and the overdrafted pick to get Howard here). Heck of a price. I hope it pays off.

My point is that (hopefully) BOB isn't the only one making decisions, even though that's the picture painted by everyone. And that everyone deserves blame for the Clowney handling.

Lol yeah. Hopefully though this means Howard can just focus on being the best guard he can be.

Only thing I hate about risks like this is football is a violent sport and it can all go up in smoke if some guys torpedoes his knee like what happened to Miller.

Does this make the Texans a true super bowl contender for the next few years?

Because, we aren't going to be able to make any significant upgrades with so few top draft picks.

It might work out, but I'm not real optimistic.
