THANK YOU TOM BRADY. Even though I wanted you to lose... You single handedly cut Tebow coverage on ESPN 89%!
The difference between Tebow and Brady. Tebow gets assistance from God where as Brady is God on the football field.
Tebow is the most popular athlete in America. Think about that for a second. You think the reason for that is because he is a bad athlete who wins?
The difference between Brady and Tebow is Tebow hosts sick people every week does missionary work around the world and Brady dumps his pregnant gf.
I'm talking about the media coverage that everyone on this board keeps complaining about which is mostly ESPN. His coverage has more to do with his football than his off the field activities.
Yes, let's think about that for a second. He won a single poll, in the midst of nonstop coverage and following a huge playoff win, by garnering 3% of the vote... of 1502 people. In other words, he got about 45 votes for "favorite athlete". 97% of the voters did NOT pick him as their favorite athlete.
Sorry, this is just not true. For example, this is one of the many Tebow-related Facebook statuses I woke up to this morning: This is just one anonymous Facebook friend, but they're certainly not alone. I've seen hundreds of statuses and tweets to this effect every week. Certain people (I'm trying not to turn this into a D&D thing) know they have a "role model" that they can shove down everyone's throat, and they're taking full advantage. That, in turn, leads to increased media coverage. There certainly are people who dislike his ways and also speak out - that part is correct. But you're dead wrong if you think his adorers (based solely on religion) aren't bringing up the religion angle and driving coverage.
it would have been funnier this way... Tebow hosts sick people every week does missionary work around the world , while brady does south american models missionary.
I was referring to this message board with that quote. As for facebook statuses and tweets I can't speak on those because nobody I follow and nobody on my facebook list talks about his religion unless they are mocking it.
Tebowmania.... <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/576/deaditsdeadjim.jpg/'><img src='http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/5125/deaditsdeadjim.jpg' border='0'/></a>
Missionary work in general does just as much bad to impoverished communties, as it does good. Cultural anthropology is fun!
Understood. That said, since you were responding to CometsWin's post about media coverage, statuses and tweets are very relevant, since they in large part dictate coverage. For example, my hometown paper had a lengthy feature on Friday with religious leaders using Tebow's fame as a springboard to discuss how they think people should live. http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/n...nt-fans-are-pulling-for-Tim-Tebow-2492303.php I haven't followed this thread well enough to know what the majority of the Clutch BBS thinks, but regardless, this board is a pretty small sample. In the outside world, many of Tebow's pro-religion admirers make his religious ways a HUGE, HUGE deal. Just pointing that out.
I appreciate Tim Tebow for who he is. We need more Tebows in this world, I believe Tebow will become a successful NFL quarterback. Denver will have this whole off-season to build around Tebow, to coach, tinker and improve his mechanics. Count me in as a believer!
I just want to know what happened to Denver's defense. Tebow actually played pretty par for him, or even better than par. 50% completions, 200 yards. Meh. But the defense usually makes that enough for him, giving him a chance at the end.
Yep, I find missionary work a negative. Its like saying I go places and try to brainwash little kids.
Ahh my bad see when I see the word media coverage I'm mainly thinking about people complaining about the coverage he receives on ESPN and other Football shows.
He also went through a whole press conference and multiple other interviews last night, including detailed accounts of the last drive, without mentioning his savior. I'm just saying: it really is different. I actually don't care that Tebow thinks that God, Christ and the Holy Ghost buy a twelve pack and watch NFL football every Sunday afternoon -- that's fine by me if he thinks that. And it's fine by me if his pastor makes statements about God supporting Tim's football games. Funny, absurd, maybe depressing if I let myself think about it, but fine. I just care about the football itself.
This is how they titled an article on Yahoo NFL http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl Saying it like its ALL the "Tim Tebows" together? Yes adding that I was on another forum with a thread titled "Tim Tebow!" all giddy saying how it was amazing Tim Tebow beat the PATRIOTS last week to advance.... A christian guy who OBVIOUSLY doesnt watch ANY football. Not mad at him, I won't take away someone's excitement. Its how there's just MILLIONS MORE of that thing that you NORMALLY DO NOT have to deal with, but we do NOW.
