morey and MDA's system maximized our potential but we were outmatched once again.

harden, tucker, ego, Paul all fine. yes Paul isn't a superstar anymore but he didn't play poorly. yes Clint can't play against the warriors they take the center out of the game, but he is useful against every other team in the league and worth keeping.

plain and simple it came down to the warriors having more talent on their team. even without KD and boogie they had more talent in the game tonight. the reason is simple. the warriors are willing to pay the tax to win the championship and the rockets were not. in fact the warriors spent an $21M more than the rockets on their roster this season.

even with our guys being outmatched, every game was within a few points in the final minutes. if we matched the warriors spending we easily take this series. imagine if we matched Ariza's $15M/1yr, used the MLE on a backup center who can actually rebound and finish through contact like Ed Davis. he signed for $4.4M/1yr. lets give him $5M to come here. finally lets not hold onto a $10M ending contract just because it will help us avoid the tax next year. shumpert was a non factor and his contract needed to be traded with a pick for someone who can play. lets send him, nene and a first rounder for Marvin williams. then we would have matched the warriors spending and this would be our team:

    capela-davis
    tucker-marvin
    ariza-green
    harden-ego
    Paul-austin

in a series that was decided by 6 points or less in every game, I believe the added size, rebounding, defense, and shooting of the 3 players who were easily attainable would have for sure made the difference in the series.

in short, you get what you pay for. pay the tax to compete. want to beat the warriors? start by matching their spending. you just can't expect to beat the best team ever assembled by spending 20% less than they do.
