Neither the Rockets or Lakers can afford to pay Reeves. We won’t be in play for him.

I totally respect Austin Reaves' development during his NBA career. His arc has been remarkable. Offensively, he checks about every box.

But, for some reason, my gut is telling me whichever team pays him franchise money this summer will regret it. This is just a personal hunch. There is no logical reason to think he won't continue shooting a bunch of FTs while being efficient from the field.

I do think being on the Lakers is a great advantage for him. He will not get the same calls unless he is sent to another of the NBA’s golden children. He is definitely a Robin and not a Batman, so overpaying him is fraught with danger with the current CBA.

I think he'll get Sengun range money.

I don't think the Rockets are going to be interested but they could if they wanted to - a S&T with FVV & DFS makes the money work.

Not saying it's at all probable, just possible.

It would cost us at least one of our premium draft picks, but I guess it’s possible.

Do we even still have “premium” draft picks anymore? Lol. Both Suns and Dallas are projected to be pretty good in a few years. I always hated that damn trade of nets picks.

Suns are having a great year from several guys. They don’t have much ability to improve other than internal development of 30 year olds while it being tough to keep their productive players as they have too many big contacts already. 2027 may not be as good a pick as expected, but the 2029 one looks great.

Also with the flatter curve coming you don’t need teams to be horrible to win the lottery. No one knows the new formula yet, but almost certainly the odds for mediocre teams will improve. And those are the types of picks we have.

I'm not so sure we have any "premium draft picks" anymore.

PHX is much better than we expected.

Dallas in 29 lost it's luster once they got Cooper - They are in play in range and likely to get better.

Unless the new lottery rules are very favorable, those picks look middle of the draft ....

Hell, the lottery is probably rigged anyhow.
