Yeah...I guess it would have been worse if NE won. Especially in the Celtics get a title. Then Brady is in Montana's league....team may go down as the greatest ever, etc...

The entire New England dynasty never impressed me... they got lucky with the absurd "tuck" rule fiasco in 2001, and its been one escape after another for this so-called "team of the 2000's".

Brady should never have been confused with Montana all these years... but this year, I did start buying into the Brady-mania with some of the games he was having. However, I know one thing is for sure... Montana NEVER had a mediocre performance like Brady just did in the Super Bowl.

Also, I have a feeling the whole spygate story is a little bit more than we've all been let on right now (a nice pseudo-cover up job by the NFL), and in the upcoming weeks, we may hear a lot more scary details of the Patriots' cheating.

I agree the dynasty thing has been overblown, they one those Superbowls by 3 points each.

That said, Brady has been great. Joe Montana might not have fared better against that pash rush. LT and company on the old Giants team shut down Joe and his squad twice in the playoffs in his prime (SF scored 3 points each game).

Joe Montana was literally knocked out of a playoff game from a Giants pass rush like that.

What's impressive to me about the Pats is not the team matched up man to man with teams from BEFORE the free agency/salary cap era. But what impresses me is their ability to reload and put together super bowl champ contenders year in and year out, winning 3 and making it to 4. I can't think of another franchise that's done that with the kind of player turnover they have had.

Why don't the NFL implement best out of 5 series in a playoff game including the SUPERBOWL??? Is it because of injuries, or fatigue... I know the money is not the issue...

Because the playoffs would last as long as the regular season if you had a best out of 5 for each round.

Look how hard it is to win when you can't tape other teams' practices.

    ESPN created the USC/Leinart/Bush mirage.

    Deja vu?

I figured the Patriots were scoring their TD with way too much time on the clock. I said to myself they are going to end up losing because they are leaving just enough time for Manning to lead a score and they will not have time left to make another successful drive. I know the Pats were banking on a defensive stop to seal the deal but that didn't happen.

Really, it came down to that one spectacular catch on the helmet. That was huge.

In the end, the Giants were just too physical for all the teams they played. Definitely the best defense in the league regardless of what any stats say. They deserve to be where they are. Their defensive rush was just unbelievable...especially when it counted in the second half and 4th quarter. Their secondary and coverage was good as well for the most part.

It did come down to the Giants making one more play than the Patriots. Same thing in the Cowboys game...for which I think the Cowboys had a better shot at the end (two times on their side of the field at the end of the game with shots in the end zone) to win the game than the Patriots did.

Well Dallas wasn't out physicalled by the Giants. The Cowboys outgained them by a 100 yards (including substantially on the ground) and TOP about 3:2. But what the Giants did do is play with much more focus and grit--a matter of superior execution. The Giants were not the best team this year, just like Pittsburgh 2 years ago, but they got on a roll on the right time and their defense carried them. Hiccups by Peyton and his offense and Romo and his offense (plus unnecc penalities and special teams breaks in the Dallas game) gave openings those years--all the credit to the Giants and their squad in taking it. (can't say the same thing about Pittsburgh Stealers because who knows if Seattle wins that Superbowl taking away the bogus refing throughout)

However since Peyton and Colts bounced back, good sign for the Cowboys. Just got to not lose focus down the stretch.

Interesting the last 3 Superbowl winners actually played starting in the wildcard round--dispelling any theory that having the bye and rest is more important than peaking and playing well as a team.

I have no love lost that Harrison and Seymore and Samual and Wilfork and Brady ended sour. Even their A-holeness seemed to rub off on Seau. Bruski and Faulk I could feel a little sorry for, but they already got 3 rings. Wouldn't mind Moss or Welker--but they will get other shots at the ring.

The Giants MVP is Tiki Barber. If anyone got Coughlin to relax just a tad, Eli to intense it up just a tad, and galvanzine that team into one committed and focused unit, it was him :) .

I admit I was rooting for the Patriots. Well I was rooting for history. Will we ever see another 18-0 team in our lifetime? I don't think so. It's too difficult.

But after last night I doubt I will root for the Patriots again. The lack of sportsmanship by Belichik was inexcusable. Sure he was disappointed but he left his guys on the field for the final snap.

If I were Kraft I'd fire Coach Spygate for that move.

Dallas played the more physical game in the first half against us. But they only gained 30 rushing yards in the second half and we pretty much beat up Romo in the 4th

They did when it counted...in the 4th. Don't you remember the Cowboys offensive line over on the sideline getting chewed out for poor protection? Edit: Oops...hotballa had this one covered. Cowboys got punked by NY D in the end...as did all the playoff teams.
