They absolutely be great players in Houston. Brogdon would a secondary ball handler. And Middleton would FEAST on open 3's.

Every imagined what Houston would look like with a pure shooter getting open looks that Harden creates?

The Rockets blunt force the 3pt math via volume. What if they had high percentage shooters shooting at that volume?

    Talent matters.

Dude, do you know who is second in the nba in 3 pointers are, the Bucks, wanna know who is 4th Boston. In fact the Bucks only take 3s and layups. They are basically running Mike’s stuff from his Phoenix days, though I would like @malakas to confirm please.

Yea we shouldn’t be relying on Harden so much but the defense is a much bigger problem.

MDA was blessed with Harden & CP and it caused him to get lazy.

He's basically said I've got 2 hall of fame PG's on the team I'll just sit back and let them figure it out.

I'm not so surprised by the system stuff, I'm sure Harden/Morey/MDA agree that they don't want to have a system built on Harden having to score 40.

What surprised me more is how it shows what Harden thinks of the quality of the roster. That's what he means when he says he doesn't want to play this way but he must.

MDA prefers to play faster and with a bit more movement. However, Harden has to move off the ball defensively and offensively in order for us to implement anything with significantly more spread out responsibilities.

This is fruitless. Yes defense is our biggest problem but acting like taking terrible , predictable bad 3 pt shots vs over open/set ones isnt a major problem is ridiculous. The rockets don’t have a real strategy, they chuck away. Even harden seems to have a problem with it now and it bothers people that are stubborn to no end with their narrative.

This wouldn’t even be mentioned if we had a competent defense. This is the same exact offense as last year.

You can't just plug in .

Middleton and brogdon are able to get into a rhythm and shoot the shots they want .

    Middleton shoots 6 3's a game and brogdon shoots 3.7 .

    Gordon takes 8.5 .

Look at Gordon's 3 point percentage the last three years in New Orleans and look at his percentages here !

His 3 % has gone way down . This is because we have him taking 35 footers .

Any good shooter we bring in , is probably gonna suffer a dip in percentages because we blunt force it to the point that we take way more difficult (deeper) shots

    Edit ... here's Gordon's attempts and % the last 6 years .

    4. .391
    5.2. .448
    6.5. .384
    8.8. .372
    8.8. .359
    8.5. .320

That's not an error, that's intentional math. We're basically trying to get everyone to hit close to 36-37% as it simply results in a better offense. A guy shooting 40% is being underutilized.

It has worked wonders. We have always been a better offensive team than the offensive talent on our roster and it's not only because of Harden. Even in this state of affairs, we remain a better offensive team than the Bucks (we are 2nd, they are 4th).

I don't think he's saying we have to change our offense totally... I think Harden was just saying that he'd like to get back to where he's just scoring 28-30 per game and everyone else is involved.

Gordon takes plenty of traditional 3ptrs. It is not just about long 3s.

If this move s true kinda of shocking. McHale used to want ball movement ( sticky) Harden didn't like?

Does he want a coach that will make him play D?

I’m sure he does not want to play in a system where he scores 40 not for a team where he has as much input as the GM.

If you want to hate yourself consider this......in hindsight.......

What if the Rockets offered the "Four 1st Round Picks (or 3+ Gordon) Butler-esque" package to the Pacers for Paul George? Would they have taken that package over the Thunder Oladipo/Sabonis (no picks) package?

They definitely play Moreyball. However the playmaking is more shared than during MDA's phoenix days. I think.
Well I'm not a Suns fans so my knowledge of the 7 seconds or less system is not top notch.

One major difference which is very important is that Bud is using a huge rotation, incorporating and using scrubs, which I believe that MDA even during the Phoenix days did not.

First time I have heard Harden get even tangentially political.

If it was 4 firsts yes.
However Indiana ownership is known for being extreme anti tanking and penny pinchers. So they would rather take a player package than a pick package. But with so many firsts they would.

You know they wouldn't have taken the package. I HAVE NO DOUBT. Nobody is f-cking with the Rockets. Then, now, or in the future.
