    I'll take both.

Astros be like the Rockets and win another championship (back-to-back would be SICK).
Rockets be like the Astros and win a championship recently.

That just an example that even the smartest guy on earth cannot always overcome his own bias. After posting on this board for year, we should all know this. There are lots of smart guys here. But they are biased. We all are. There's no such thing as total objectivity.

It's not a binary thing, championship GM or non-. Luhnow doesn't get credit for Marwin hitting a HR off the best closer in baseball with 2 outs in the 9th inning in Dodger Stadium. He doesn't get credit for Bregman's single in the 10th. A TON of magic had to happen for us to win. Morey put us in a similarly good position, and we had bad luck/the NBA officials and league office going against us. All you can ask from a GM is that they put us in such a position, as consistently as possible year to year.

But according to Donkey, they weren't worried, and it was easy. At least Curry is being honest here.....there's no shame in giving your opponent credit. Draymond is a piece of ****.

When Bill Simmons was at the Draft when Clint Capela was selected, Bill said Just drafting him to stash him. I felt like punching that Boston Douche.

Chris Ryan, Chris Vernon, Wesley Morris, Paolo Uggleti, Alison Herman are full-on Rockets haters. Jason Concepcion is more neutral but takes jabs every now and then, but he doesn't go out of his way like them. Haley O'Shaunnesy and Kevin O'Connor are full on Rockets supporters/fans.

Simmons used to be more neutral but he's been more hater the last year or so. I feel a part of it is that the Celtics were so good last year and he wants them to be the actual 2nd best team in the league and the only real challengers to the Warriors. He saw Rockets steal that shine last year. Listen to Harlabob's podcast with him and Bill kept talking down on Rockets have an actual chance against the Warriors when they were up 3-2. Haralabob snapped back saying that was bullshit and the Rockets could've easily won if Chris Paul never got hurt. Simmons stayed dismissive and then Haralabob brought up if he thought the Celtics would've beaten the Rockets...Simmons said yeah and Haralabob shitted on that too saying their is no way they would've won. It was most riled up I've heard Haralabob. Simmons think of everything in the NBA as a Celtics fanboy..so he'll never be subjective..it's a jealously thing now with him and the Rockets.

The Celtics players seem overrated especially by the media, the Celtics crumbled against LeBron.
Is Bill Simmons that dumb, by not attacking Lebron James Terrible Team that beat the Celtics.
Why go after the Rockets, why are you praising LeBron James and attacking the Rockets.
I guess he bashes the Rockets in order to keep his job and not get fired again.

I believe that was the Rockets intention but Capela was adamant on coming over.

Clint bullied his way onto the roster. Morey absolutely wanted to stash Clint.

    two things here:

Maybe Bill loves Houston but believes in the Ringer Curse so by down playing them he is helping them

Or the more likely scenario (IMO) the Ringer is a business and hating on Houston especially now with LeBron in LA and OKC keeping PG and getting the other guys is the trendy thing to do that will generate more page views/likes/downloads etc. I know he wanted to create another Grantland but hasn't been able to recapture that magic just yet. Ringer is not bad at all but still as along way to go IMO. Kevin O'Conner is great but a lot of their other basketball writers/podcasters aren't all that just yet.

We've won a lot in 23 years. We just haven't won it all. In those 23 years, only 9 teams have won the championship and many of them were dynasties though during that period Dallas and Cleveland each won their only championship ever. If not winning it all=not winning anything, then 20 teams "haven't won anything" in thirty-five years. 1983 was when the Sixers won. Since then there have been 10 NBA championship teams, with the Rockets being one of them twice in that time and both Dallas and Cleveland winning once each. 30 teams are trying their damnedest year in and out to win it all. The vast majority of them fail miserably year in and year out while the Rockets compete, almost always in the playoffs, year in and year out. You know who "hasn't won anything in 23 years?" The Sacramento Kings. The 2018 Houston Rockets are not the Sacramento Kings. Our team competes every year.

But to say a thing like that now? We were on the precipice of unseating a 4 all-star, heretofore-undefeated dynasty this last season and likely would have done so if we hadn't lost one of our two stars to major injury. In games 6 and 7 we held late leads. In both games there were bad calls against us late. We came as close to beating the champs as a team can come without actually doing it. That's not "nothing." And we came as close as we did without Mbah A Moute and in game 7 essentially without Ariza so I don't agree we've regressed very much if at all. We'll have to see.

No Rockets fan is in a mood to celebrate moral victories after coming to the precipice of winning it all (which WCF essentially was given Cavs) and losing only due to major injury (one of our two stars while GSW retained all four of theirs) and bad calls late in games after being ahead in games 6 and 7. That's just short of winning it all. And maybe that's the most disappointing and frustrating place to finish of all but it isn't "nothing." We also won the #1 seed in the NBA. They measure that by wins. We've won a lot.

Not winning it all isn't not winning anything.

What kind of crack is Bill Simmons on? No team has ever taken them to 7 games. No team has ever had homecourt advantage. No team has ever had a series lead on the Warriors, much less a series tie, after KD. No team was one unlucky break away from actually beating them.

Exactly. Those of us that endured the Pippen, Francis, Kmart years know what it means to not win anything. The Tmac and Yao years were almost as bad but I always felt we had a chance if the team could stay healthy.

Harden has done so much for this franchise. 2 Western Conference finals appearances. Relevancy on the national stage. I'll gladly take that over a bunch of first round exits or missed playoffs.
