Brown: 2 - 10 (.200) Kendall Gill: 2 - 12 (.167) Jamaal Tinsley: 0 - 8 (.000) ------------------- There are some pretty big-time names on this list. Guess who hasn't made it yet?
I'm sorry, but if you're counting players who have shot less than 30% in a game then Hakeem IS on that list; Hakeem Olajuwon 2-7 (0.285) And I know 7 shots isn't that many, but you've listed players who've shot 7 already and 4-14 is exactly the same %. Anyway, he's made the list!!
No, no he didn't. If I were only listing players who have shot under .300, there would be about 80 more names. I arbitrarily pick 10 as being the lowest I would go for someone who made 2 baskets. 7 is the lowest I've gone for someone who only made 1 basket. Shooting 2 - 7 is in no way the same as shooting 4 - 14. In the first scenario, you only missed 5 shots, in the second, you missed 10. The percentage is the same, but the lack of offense/shooting/etc is doubly worse for the player shooting 14 times and only making 4. All Hakeem would've had to do is hit 1 more out of three more attempts to not be below .300. A 2 - 14 shooter, can't just shoot 1 of 3, or 2 of 6 either. He'd actually have to shoot 4 of 6 to get back to 30%. So, the criteria is/are: 0 shots made, 7 minimum shots attempted. 1 shot made, 7 minimum shots attempted. 2 shots made, 9 minimum shots attempted. 3 shots made, 11 minimum shots attempted. 4 shots made, 14 minimum shots attempted. 5 shots made, 17 minimum shots attempted. It's not just a list of poor FG%s, it's a list of real bad shooting nights. Because, the more you keep shooting a poor FG%, the more of a negative effect it has on your team offense. And, yes, I came up with this criteria before Dream shot 2 - 7.
Jermaine O'Neal: 5 - 17 (.294) Ron Mercer: 4 - 15 (.267) Antawn Jamison: 3 - 12 (.250) Danny Fortson: 3 - 14 (.214) Chris Mihm: 2 - 11 (.182) *(Our first official "Thee-time-loser")
Jacque Vaughn is 1-27 (.037) as of 11/7. Man, I think that would be the ultimate in poor shooting so far. The only good thing to say about it, is he is only averaging 5.4 shots a game. B
I've been tempted to put Jacque Vaugn in a couple times, but he's either slipped under my minimum shot attempts needed, or at first I was leaving off the scrubs, and going for the big-name guys. Stephon Marbury: 4 - 14 (.286) Brent Barry: 3 - 11 (.273) *(Tied for 2nd 3-time loser) David Wesley: 3 - 11 (.273) Sam Cassell: 3 - 14 (.214) Aaron McKie: 3 - 15 (.200) (Thank goodness he played afterall) Richard Jefferson: 2 - 10 (.200) LaPhonso Ellis: 2 - 12 (.167) Shareef Abdur-Rahim: 2 - 12 (.167) *(Tied for 2nd 3-time loser) Kerry Kittles: 1 - 7 (.143) Vladimir Radmanovic: 1 - 7 (.143) Greg Anthony: 1 - 7 (.143) Elden Campbell: 1 - 8 (.125) Juwan Howard: 1 - 8 (.125) Kevin Willis: 1 - 10 (.100)
Rashard Lewis: 4 - 14 (.286) Bobby Jackson: 3 - 11 (.272) Mark Jackson: 2 - 10 (.200) Cuttino Mobley: 1 - 10 (.100) Shane Battier: 0 - 9 (.000) I've decided poor shooting isn't as rare in the NBA as I first thought is was...
speaking of jacque vaughn http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2001/1109/1275870.html damn I wish I could've seen that highlight, that would've been hilarious to see the fans storming the court video.
