I was watching SportsCenter a few minutes ago and they ranked the top 10 cneters of all time. Hakeem was number 5?!?!?!?! Shaq was number 3, Bill Russell was number 1.

Who do you think was best?

Wait a minute. Is this list yours or his? Hard to believe Yao's made anyone's top ten without playing a game in the NBA.

    That's what I was thinking.

I just went with Wilt. I know some people say his competition was not very good, but still his numbers were very good. Didn't he have like a 70% FG?

Kareem would probably be 2nd in my book, followed by Dream. Too bad I'm no expert on basketball history, though. But its still my opinion. :D

No, actually I forgot the other two. I don't think Robinson was in the top ten, and I forgot the other. One might have been Bill Walton, but I can't stand him, lol!!

I figured I should add Ming, not only to fill up space, heh, but I'm sure he'll end up being one of the top centers to play the game.

The other eight were Jack Ramsey's.

I have to go with Wilt. I would say Hakeem played in an era where there was more competition at his position and he makes it tough in that respect, he was great. But Wilt was dominant. It would be interesting to see them play each other in their prime.

Moses Malone should be above Walton and Thurmond.

Don't be surprised that in a couple of years when Yao Ming has settled down, that he makes serious inroads into that list!

I am as big a Yao Ming's fan as anyone else. But, wait a minute, I really don't think Ming should be on that list now. He has yet to play one single NBA game. It being said, I am confident he will make the list down the road.

Dream is the only player to be MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and Finals MVP in the same season. Not to mention the fact that he is the all-time leader in blocks. I'd say Dream is the best ever...IMHO.

this poll is crap. for yao to have 20% of the votes is a total joke! he hasn't even played a game in the league yet. C'mon rocket fans...you gotta vote with your mind sometimes, not just your hopes (only intended for those who voted Yao Ming).

they didn't start counting blocks until the 80's or something, but if they would have started earlier i am sure wilt or bill would be number one.

Well in a poll like this I would have to put all of the 10 best (in my mind ) and play them AT THERE BEST agenst each other like they were all playing at the same time so here goes..

Wilt playing Kareem...man handle's him and beat him
Wilt playing Shaq...scores over him and fouls him out
Wilt playing Hakeem...scores on him but not near his avg Hakeem holds his own = draw
Wilt playing Russell ... kicks his butt
Wilt playing Moses Malone ....kicks his butt
Wilt playing Patrick Ewing ...kicks his butt
Wilt playing Bill Walton ...kicks his butt
Wilt playing David Robinson ...kicks his butt
Wilt playing Arvidas Sabonis ...had we of seen this man in his prime

So here is my top 10

    #1 Wilt
    #2 Hakeem
    #3 Kareem
    #4 Moses Malone
    #5 Shaq
    #6 Russell
    #8 Ewing
    #9 Sabonis
    #10 Robert Parish

The fact is that because of Bill Russell, blocks were counted as a statistic.

Same can be said for George Mikan, the first great NBA center....
Because of him, goaltending was ruled a violation.
No, he's not the best, but he was the first Babe Rth of NBA basketball.
