That guy has as much upside as Ex Rocket Jermaine Taylor. All speed and no touch.

 

Tim Howard may be getting older, but he plays the one position where that doesn't really matter (and the US is pretty thin at keeper). He starts, and plays well for a mid-table EPL team, whereas Brad Guzan couldn't get off of the bench for Aston Villa and went to play in the Championship.

Until somebody better emerges, I'm not worried about his age as a keeper. After all, Brad Friedel started for Tottenham this past season and they nearly made Champions League.

 

I really hated the formation in the first half, a lone striker against Brazil allows them to pressure the ball without any threat of it costing them on their end.

The USA looked much better once they went to a 4-4-2, even though we did not score the chances created were great, their keeper played amazingly well. USA could have had 3 or more goals with a weaker performance by their keeper.

Really thought Gooch played pretty poorly, that PK given in the 12 minute was a joke, but he was out of position a lot and just looks slow these days.

Donovan also looked tenative on the ball, gave it away too often.

On the plus side, Bradley's deliveries are money, Landon's corners are sweet, and really like the ball skills of Torres....

Take out the pain on Canada boy !

I really thought Fabian Johnson played well tonight.

 

Dempsey played well when he came on.

Gooch, on the other hand... what the eff. I would have much rather had Cameron start again.
