I was about to post the same thing but just to add that plenty of women dress in male fashion and female fashion in this regard is more fluid than men. For example just because a woman is a "Tomboy" doesn't mean she is a lesbian. In fact within the lesbian community there are big differences in fashion such as being "butch" or "femme".

I don't know much about gay people in the Philippines but I suspect that it has more to do with culture than it does with homosexuality. I know that cross dressers in SE Asia are often homosexuals also. ie Thai Lady Boys. I think that has to do with traditional cultural attitudes that have forced them into accepting those type of roles while also the sex trade has pressed them into those roles.

    Depends.
When people think cross dressing it is usually men wearing dresses.
Most Gay men don't do this. But I know alot that utilize product/dress
that is more ascribed to women. Vice Versa with Lesbians
[i.e. I know several gay men that were 'blouses', lip gloss/stick, make up, fake fingernails, heels, more feminine hair styles, etc
and I see a plethora of lesbians - noted by their shave heads/Fades, Dressing like ICE CUBE from boys in the hood - Khaki's and sagging paints with timberlands on. ]
They seek seemingly an androdenous [sp?] look
You see a pair of lesbians. One may look like what one would ascribe as girly
the other looks like a dude with boobs. [I know of some that wear bras that minimize their boobs or wear big shirts so they not as noticable.]

Some 'act' in ways that are more ascribe to the sex opposite of theres.

I say this not to stereotype
I say this not to disparage
I say this to say that it is not a 'stupid' question. If one is only seeking knowledge.
I say this to say let's NOT ACT LIKE this doesn't happen and the OP is imagining things because That is a lie.

I have nothing against the OP, the responders or Homosexuals.
Their behavior is as open to scrutiny/analysis/questions as any others
[i.e. why folx that claim to pray so much are republican except black folx]

Google: The Mean Girls of Morehouse.
[Which may open up other debate and I kind of hate bringing it up because
it opens up another stereotype if black folx and homophobia, which is not really all that true
    but . . .
just info into the dynamics of something people notice and see]

It's possible Filipino actors are pretending to be gay, like American actors pretending to be straight; because that's what sells. There also may just be some issue with female actresses, like in Shakespeare's time.

Nope, Gay filipino actors are popular here because they're 'funny'. They make fun of their own gender, like in America how black people make fun of their race.

McGrady, so how do you explain that those of us stateside (you know, the group you predominantly asked here) really don't see the correlation you see in the Phil's?

Basically, we don't know what you're talking about, and you keep posting that we don't know what you're talking about. Great thread.

I think there are a lot more trans-gendered people in SE Asia. I don't know the psychology. I think it has to do with culture and how homosexuals respond to the culture.

Personally, I don't really take to identity crises in ANYONE straight or gay. Decidedly open flamboyant UN-closeted people is preferable to suppressed closeted people. In any culture, a person not comfortable in their skin can be weird in their personality just the SAME, with their inner conflicts and such. An open array of liberated crossdressers is better than confused angry-at-the-world people hiding it.

(Crossdressers CAN be annoying. I'm not going to make fun of orange tanned douchebags but give dress-wearing guy a pass just to appear "tolerant", I'm sorry  )
