Let the rumors begin.... Chris (TX) Is Houston going to be active in the trade market as the deadline nears? Chad Ford (1:17 PM) Hearing yes in a major way. They like their backcourt and feel that they are set at the five. Upgrading the 4 looks like the biggest priority ... but could also look to upgrade at the 3 (though Chandler Parsons is having a good season). Rockets still have a number of young assets to offer.
You, baby. He only has eyes for you. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FvzNeh4Mq1o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> jur-boh-jur-boh!
Sounds like new MEM ownership is looking to dump Zach Randolph's contract. He may be had for cap space and a wee bit of sweetener.
maybe he's still okay with trading away people to get a guy with an expiring in hopes of convincing to re-sign in the offseason? If so, then...Josh Smith? A Utah big?
I think there's isn't enough playing time for all the guys at 4 right now. Some of them will have to be moved. Morey's best hope is to consolidate, trade quantity for quality. Maybe acquire better 4 that way, or move assets to redistribute value, so that you don't end up with a glut of average PF's with potential to be more but no playing time to develop them.
I try to give to all the poor people for Love what Aldridge people could get for money. -Mother Teresa
yeah but who wants to trade their awesome 4 for 3 of our potentially good 4s? That's always the problem I've seen with Morey's plan. You can package assets, but not many people are looking for three guys at the same position at once.
http://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2013/01/the-memphis-grizzlies-have-reportedly-discussed-trading-zach-randolph/ Potential problems: Randolph is 31, and Morey hates player options.
Well played Unfortunately, I don't think either of them are on the market right now and I don't think Morey has the assets (either of sufficient value or that he wants to part with) to swing such a trade. Fortunately, if they end up on the block, it will be a bit further into the future, which means more time for Morey to accumulate/develop assets for such a trade.
Eyes on? If its gonna be a big time player... J.Smith L.Alridge K.Love R.Gay D.Granger P.Milsap A.Jefferson A.Bynum D.Cousins M.Gortat Z.Randolph P.Gasol M.Gasol A.Iguodala D.Howard One of them, maybe 2. Some of them are really unrealistic, but not impossible.
Only move I want to see is one that gets us a 1st round pick, I am pretty sure that if we make the playoffs, Atlanta gets ours from Terrance Williams deal and we gave up our second rounders, so getting a mid to late 1st rounder wouldn't be that bad. That being said, the only players I think we can deal besides the end of bench guys are Morris and Patterson.
The following is a foolproof Morey plan: Morey asks, "Dei, what do you think of . . . . . . .?" 1) "He's good" -- no action 2) "He's bad" -- no action 3) "He's a Joke" -- this is your man. Offer him at least 25 M.
I think the key would be to translate the assets into more liquid value, like he did by changing Lowry into a lotto pick for Harden (or Dwight). So you can trade the stable of average/potentially good pfs for picks. You can even combine the picks into better picks by trading up. Refine them via the asset micro-trading that Morey seems so good at, till you get enough accumulated value in liquid enough (picks?) or attractive enough assets and combine them (J.Lamb+KMart+picks). Either that, or a multi-team trade with extra picks going to the guy who's trading away the awesome 4.
Is this opposite day? He has the most valuable contract in the NBA, and Bird rights now carry over to the new team in trades. So his value to the Rockets is just as great as his value as a trade chip.
