its never going to be popular for two reasons:

    1. all the dunks have been done to death
    2. the superstars don't participate like they used to

I'll watch for Blake Griffin although I'd much rather just see him dunk on people in games rather than doing tricks and what not. It would be sweet if they got the best dunkers on one team and the best shot blockers on the other and let them have what would be similar to a penalty shot in hockey where the dunker tries to jam past the defender. Winner gets a point and the play to a certain number.

Griffin should win it in a walk. That guy has done some in-game dunks that are absolutely ridiculous. I usually find big men dunks less impressive because they are more about power than athletecism but Griffin is the rare combination of both.

Who decided it would be a good idea to make a dunk contest with no wing player?

Dunk Contest has been crap these last couple of years, it's really sad. They need to change of all-star weekend. What they should do is take the worst of everybody and make them play.

3-point contest with the worst 3 point shooters(first 3 pointer wins, and Yao could do it from a wheelchair ;) )

Slam Dunk take 5 guys who can't dunk and score like normal

Make the All-Star game a pickup game, with the two players with the most votes as captains(imagine the bad blood!)

They just need to get rid of the Dunk Contest, it will never be the same, and Lebron (nor anyone else right now) will change that. Griffin and Lebron are high flyers, but what could they possibly do that we haven't seen before...other than do a flip in there air, nothing, neither of them could dunk from the FT line either, maybe half a step in front, but unless you're going to jump from a step behind the FT Line, don't even try it.

yup and Bron is at the stage of his career where he will start losing some hops.

    This should be the lineup

    Blake Griffin
    Lebron James
    Derrick Rose
Chase Bundiger (token white guy underdog to make it interesting)

I like your idea for the 3 pt contest and the Pickup Game, the Pickup Game would be awesome.
