Russell understood the game at a different level than Wilt. He wanted Wilt to have the ball and accumulate ungodly stats because Russell knew he was turning it over at the worst rate of any player ever and Wilt would wilt at the FT line from fatigue down the stretch.

Wilt was very inefficient with his touches for a man who dominated the basketball so much. He left teammates standing around constantly. Most of them hated playing with him.

He is an icon of the game. But he wouldn't make it in today's NBA. Too much info available on efficiency and inefficiency. He'd be a bench warmer.
