Because he is so loyal to the Texans hence he want to keep sucking at Indy and help the Texans to have a chance to get in the playoff? I like your thinking here.
It's worth mentioning that this is Shanahan's first season in Cleveland. The ZBS didn't exactly work 100% when Gary got here in 2006, either. Tate had the luxury of stepping into Gary's magnum opus of O-Lines in 2011.
Ben Tate, according to PFF, was hit behind the LOS on 27.4% of his carries...highest among RBs with at least 100 carries. Give him a half decent offensive line and he will crap all over a player like Trent.
Assuming he clears waivers, I'm not sure he would consider Baltimore. He hasn't been very secretive about his disdain for Kubiak. But then again, that might be one of the more attractive situations (potential for playing time/contention).
We don't need him for one and two he got on my ish list when he ran out of bounds a yard short of the first down marker several times instead of attempting to fight for the first down.
Tate is done. Rumor mill says he was cut because of his ****ty attitude and not working to earn his spot. Got his ass beat out by two young guys worth way less on the pay scale. He's a tumor now, and he doesn't stay healthy. No thanks.
interesting because the way he fought for our team last year when we sucked really earned my respect... he was putting his body on the line every week when he knew he wasnt even going to be on the team this year, he could have easily sat out with his broken ribs and still gotten that contract from the Browns.
He was doing that because it was his only chance of actually getting paid... otherwise he would have sat out hurt like he did in parts of nearly every other season. To me, his "insistence" on playing hurt last year irked me more about his character... since it was obvious he was doing it only because it was a free agent year.
He would have gotten paid either way... its not like he had to show the Browns anything, he and everyone else in the NFL knew they were going to pay him for the past 2 years.
It would have cut into his earning potential had he continued to miss games... hell, he only really gets his signing bonus now that he got cut, despite his "dedication" to the team. If he was such a hard worker, where was it this year? Oh right... it wasn't a contract year. Now that he has to start all over again, maybe he re-dedicates himself.... but I want no part of this head-case who has marginal talent, at best.
I mostly agree with this. I liked the RB tandem he and Foster had a few seasons back. Made our run game elite in the league. However, I can't stand players with negative attitudes in the locker room. Grimes and Blue deserve their spots.
Ben Tate is not good anymore. He lost his job to 2 undrafted rookies, and they are not that great. I prefer Colts get Tate over Blount, who also got released.
