Should the New York Jets change their Name?

  1. Yep. It's in poor taste and disrespectful to those who lost loved ones.

What do you think? If Oklahoma had a team called th Bombers it would get changed so what about the Jets? I can see both sides. Pride and resillence Vs. Political correctness and sensitivity.

Someone forced the Washington Bullets to change their name because it sounded too violent, so I wouldn't put it past anybody to suggest this...Aren't the Redskins supposed to change their name because of the racial thing with Native Americans?

Bullets are a little different than Jets.

As for the redskins, I think the Falcons should change their name to redneck cracker hicks, and see how white people like it.

I think it was the owner who wanted to change the name because of its violent allusion. Owners can change names as they like.

As for the Atlanta Redneck Cracker Hicks, it's got a nice ring to it but is probably a bit too long. Much like the Knickerbockers was shortened to NY Knicks, I think Redneck Cracker Hicks will quickly become the Atlanta Hix.

If they wanted to take the violence out of the Bullets name, they should make them take "Washington" out as well. :)

The Bullets name change was voluntary. Abe Pollin was a friend of the Israeli PM that was asassinated. I do think that a change had been suggested, but this act pushed him over the edge.

Keep the Jets. A name change will be a forever kind of reminder that we don't need.

That's being litigated. The deal is that one cannot apparently cannot trademark a "racist" term or phrase with the US Patent and Trademark Office. There has been a chance that they could lose their trademark protection and that might end up forcing the team to change its name. But that's not really the same thing as "Jets".

Actually, Atlanta is not very hickly at all. Most people in Metro Atlanta are transplants from the north and west.

Yeah, I know, I was just trying to name a Southern team. If it makes you feel any better, I can change it to the Carolina Hicks. ;)

I DO think Washington should do away with Redskins, maybe change to Generals or Maniacs...(stupid comments kept to myself).

Yea there are way too many hicks up here in NC. Luckly Raleigh (where I live) has very few hicks with in the city but once you leave the county there are some big hick towns near by.

The difference is, you flaming moron, is that cson is obvously kidding.

You are a complete joke. You use a racial slur that's used against many people, then try to associate those who argued against using that with the Taliban. Then your idiotic mind tries to go to all these different threads and try and make arguments against us "hypersensitive" posters and attempt to make us look like hypocrites or babies...to know avail.

You're not on my ignore list, you're on my idiot list.

You are nothing but a flaming self-righteous hypocrite.
